That graphic was from YQR. Not sure if YXE did one as well.

This is huge news for the business community.

Minneapolis is the American city that we have the largest business tie, so losing that direct flight was a disaster for getting to meetings or bringing execs here.

If you've ever flown a Tuesday morning on the Calgary flight, you'll see it is primarily business clientele. That's what you'll see for Minneapolis too.

Certainly helps that from Minneapolis you can connect to pretty much any American city .

Great news for YQR! All you could ask for would be a later flight arriving back. Even so its a huge win!

That's huge. Makes the "International" part of our airport name a little less of a joke.

We need to keep up the pressure on WestJet and see what other destinations we can get. Personally I'd like to see a daily Vancouver and Toronto (departs around 6am / arrive home 10:30 or 11pm) from WestJet. Maybe an additional afternoon flight down to Minneapolis which returns later in the evening.... (hey Christmas is coming).

Looks like the YXE-MSP route on Westjet goes daily, using the 737s currently used on the 3 times a week frequency flown currently. Don't know at this point (and of course things can change) if this is just a summer increase in service.
Daily service begins April 28th, when the new service out of YQR starts.

Is that daily direct flight to Montreal only seasonal during the warm months? Or will it be maintained going forward indefinitely?

Man oh man - wouldn't that be lovely. I would be thrilled if that was the case.

Interesting scenario by the ULCCs unfolding in Sask.

Flair has Saskatoon covered for Tor-Van, and now Lynx has Regina covered for the same. Looks like both are trying to establish each city as their turf.

Porter coming to YXE

Great news for YXE. I checked AC and they have already reduced their fares for their evening departure out of YXE. The added capacity will be great for YXE.

I’ll be happy to give Porter some business as I love the EMBRAER planes. Reminiscent of when AC used to fly the 190’s on the YYZ-YXE route.
