After working at SFU downtown and watching student after student walk into the side of sliding doors I'm not surprised by anything anymore.

I just got a brilliant idea. Why don't they put the Burrard Bridge suicide bars on the edges of the Telus water features AND wrap them in bubble wrap!

That top round part is hideous. So much so I can't look at it.

"There is no dispute in taste," has oft been quoted. It's the zig-zag boxy side that makes me seasick. I think the top round softens it, and wish it that way on both sides.

Now that it's getting dark earlier I'm getting a chance to see the lighting on the office tower ground level.

Nice update.

Given all the architectural lighting on this building, it would be strange if the translucent glass sidewalk does not eventually light up as well:

I was looking for that today but there was just a low level of light coming up from below.

I think it's a skylight for the space below? I doubt it will.

Probably not shown too well on the photo, but the skylight does appear pretty bright from the sidewalk.

The underground space isn't occupied (by Henriquez Architects) yet, is it?

When it is, then the skylight may appear brighter.

That said, the skylights end up being "dead space".
A bench or two (that's not a waiting area for Glowbal) would be nice but probably not over the skylight.
i.e. could they scatter those seating cubes around the plaza (do they belong to Glowbal or to the building?)

*****

Saw a traffic sign at south end of Cambie Bridge saying Seymour St. CLOSED Robson to Georgia Nov 6th-8th.

So the crane on the older Telus House building must be coming down.

They were ripping up the old sidewalk along the Richards Street side of the condo tower today.

They've also installed a clean looking soffit (which you can see in your pics)under the zigzag curtain wall.

The podium's north side glazing isn't as dark and reflective as the south side's -
maybe due to reduced sun exposure on the north side and to let more light in?

In terms of the ledges and oversized frame element, I like Central's execution in brick better than Telus Garden's (although Telus Garden's isn't finished yet):

That zigzag wall is as brutal as glass architecture can get. I absolutely hate it.

This whole tower is wrapped with glass. These is no surface without glass on the whole tower. Only the alley side of the podium has some concrete, but I wouldn't be surprised them installing glass there as well. Glass overflow!

I shudder to think of the long term maintenance (leak?) implications of keeping all the seals for the ledges/oversize frames intact - otherwise you'd have dirt penetrating and showing through.

Would those aesthetic cladding panels be single or double pane glass?

The building was lit up red last night - the ribs, red donuts under the protruding parts and red lighting on the solar panels on the roof.
