The old Wawanesa building at 191 Broadway is prime for an office-to-residential conversion. Nice, square modernism building that should be easy to convert. Also a good location next to Union Station and The Forks.

I heard they bought 200 Main and the parking lot behind it, I never heard any media saying they bought the other tower at the corner of Broadway.

I call purple-monkey-dishwasher.

I hope this Railside project promotes tourism; we need new life downtown. It would be great if we had a lot of great activities integrated into this project so people can bring their kids or families and make it a fun place to be.

correct, MMF DID NOT buy Wawa on Broadway & Main, they bought 200 Main (former Sport Federation / Assiniboine credit union)

While doing some work for school, I noticed that the Winnipeg assessment parcels have been updated for Phase 1 and 2, they seem to show the building footprints (or maybe offset footprints?):

Have to commend Chartrand and the Metis Nation for what they are doing in terms of providing housing, skills training and various other worthwhile programs, meanwhile the other indigenous group seems content to linger in the past dwelling on past grievances with zero willingness to move forward!

mmf is investing in what they can to insure long term they will have revenue to poor into other areas and not depend on gov they realy shifted directionss on this after the cons effed them on that deal they had with hydro

I'm delighted the MMF is spending a lot of this money in downtown Winnipeg. They could have just invested it in some kind of off-shore accounts, but instead they are using some of it in projects that will benefit the entire city.

Chartrand has said (tongue-in-cheek or not) that if they're not gonna get their ancestral land back from the government directly, then it might as well be bought back one lot at a time.

So part and parcel to this development is the reduction of panes on Izzy Asper Way and the addition of bike infrastructure and a Greenway. Anyone have any idea when that kicks off?

What I didn't pay attention to is Box Car Alley (along the lane near Union Station) Slightly concerning, but I'm open to see how it'd turn out.

I'm pretty over the boxcar architecture trend but in this case it's right beside a busy rail line, it kinda makes sense.
