This is too confusing, I guess we have to wait and see what the final floor count is for the 'midrise' and tower, just like One Rincon and the 50' (15m) height difference in 300 Spear I.

Yeah, it doesnt seem like anyone has the official details handy. Its just that different places say different things, and people have other ways of interpreting the information.

yea, the renderings are nice. at first glance the building looks simple and boxy, but it looks like theres alot detail in the close-up shot. i cant wait for this project to finish!

It's anything but "boxy".

"Boxy", I hope, is a term to describe buildings in the past. SF is moving up in the ranks and needs building with different dimentions such as triangular or pyramidal.

That is a nice building, but I was refering more to the shape of the building rather than its style, even though its style is also good. Nevertheless, Millenium Tower will offer some styles that havent been seen in SF for a long time.

I like this one better. BTW, is this the tallest U/C building in the US West of the Mississippi?

I think yes by one meter, it just beat out the The Palazzo U/C in Las Vegas which is 196 m or 642', but I need to go check.

Tallest west of the Mississippi River; Under constuction in 2006:

1. Hilton Hotel - Los Angeles (718' / 219m *estimated*)

2. Renaissance Club - Las Vegas (705' / 214.9m)

3. Victory Tower - Dallas (650' / 198.1m)

4. Millenium Tower - San Francisco (645' / 196.6m)

We may not be first this year, but in a few years we probably will be
And besides, at least we made the list, something we havent done in a while.

According to emporis, #2 and #3 still say approved and the Millennium Tower begun construction in August 2005, not 2006.

Yeah, but then again, Emporis ... not exactly known for its accuracy

I'll change it though ...

I think emporis has grown too large to be properly maintained by a small number of staff; they really need to accept more volunteers to help keep its data fresh and up-to-date, but I know they don't really accept new volunteers and this leads to confusion in the threads here.

Well, since they are'nt exactly changing the height figure every day, I'm sure eventually they'll get it right. Until then, I guess we'll just have to go with the official details that we have.

It's a guilty pleasure of mine, but it is usually mocked by locals in SF. And inside, frankly, it has the plastic look of a Chevy rather than, say a Mercedes.
