We need our own theme park lol - imagine a bigass ferris wheel on the harbour on that reclaimed industrial land

There is certainly enough space for a theme park. Plus being right on the water is lucrative… someone call Disney!

I've already been making comparisons to Montreal for years now cause of the escarpment. Our own version of La Ronde on the old steel making land would be hilarious.

Towers that sell out in days have nothing to with homeowners. Those homeowners moving to or expanding in Hamilton will be at the VIP investor's whims stuck overpaying for junk.

Many are investors, especially in Emblem's developments, but there's quite a few people are buying to move here too.

The first tower sold out very quickly here but the second seems to be moving a bit slower. I wonder when they will launch the third, especially with Moderne recently launching and 75 James launching in a few weeks. 900 units was always going to be a lot to sell in Hamilton, now there is a lot more competition too.

All in all good news though. 2022 will likely be a record year for condo sales in downtown Hamilton by several multiples.

Always a ray of sunshine.

Don't you know we're just happy to be seeing more skyscrapers being built here??

Yeah I could’ve sworn people were saying it’d start any week now. March really isn’t that far off though. Agree with the others, kindof shocked how many projects here are just pushing forward in general.

ya they got the construction permits a few weeks ago, not sure why they're waiting so long to actually start.

Could be a case of “true” construction starting in March, with site prep coming sooner, say in a month or two.

Is it possible the Moderne has actually offered this project some competition? It’s hard to deny the window appeal of the Connaught, especially if you don’t know much about the builders.

Those are just the obvious ones. You can see pro football, soccer, basketball, and lacrosse, and junior hockey if you're into sports. FOC, FO concert hall, bridgeworks, casbah, if you're into music. We could use some maybe more bar-type music venues. I guess Absinthe closed but there's still mutiple places on Hess for clubbing, plus 77/Dirty Dogs.

There's axe throwing, multiple escape rooms, bowling alleys, indoor golf, multiple board room cafes, indoor go karts, outdoor go karts, the reptile zoo, the RBG, Wild Water Works, indoor trampoline park...

What don't we have? Paintball or lazer tag? Indoor mini-putt?

I'll be honest, between all the sports I play and attend, the odd concert here and there, and my other hobbies, I'm literally never going "I wish I had something to do". Instead I go "oh yeah, I've been meaning to try an escape room"... and I've been saying it for 6 straight years, because I never actually feel bored enough to go looking for a one-off activity, instead I'm thankfull when I don't have anything on

Just an FYI on Absinthe, it will be re-opening in the near future at its original location.

As a student, I really miss Motown Wednesdays on King William.

But we do have a shortage of club venues in this city. There is only 77/DD & Sizzle. Gown only has club nights in the summer. Cover in this city is $20 per person, absolutely crazy now. The city definitely needs more weekend entertainment to support the urban sprawl and increased student intake at McMaster.

Was at The French a few weeks ago and noticed a sign for a steak house that will be opening where Absinthe used to be at King Willie and Hughson.

I'd love to see the Underground come back as a punk venue some day with something better upstairs where Dirty Dogs/77 are now. Since TAH closed 2 years ago there hasn't been one and while The Doors is a great place, its not really a punk bar like TAH was.

Ahh remember the days when they banned neon on king st in gore park cuz they were afraid it would send a seedy message... I miss the neon, we need to bring that stuff back. This is where jackson square is now. Look at all that lit signage.
