Yay, this is finally underway. The updated site plan for the hotel conversion was released for AULCC today with no change in floor count or height. They did reconfigure the ground floor for the hotel, and we have not seen any renderings since the change.

Fun updates! Keep 'em comin. Ran into the architect on Thursday and he shared that the portion in the street took around four months longer than expected. Both Austin Water and Austin Energy decided to change their design plans once the word had begun. Really wish we'd demand more from the City of Austin when it comes to delivering consistent, predictable service free of meddling and unknowns. One can dream.

He also shared that for the next few months the work will be difficult to see as they shore up the walls of the State Theater. But fear not, it is moving ahead and is underway.

It's financed and won't be open until 2022. So I suspect it will be built. Although I would not be real surprised if it doesn't start as soon as the demo is completed.

We have a live webcam from the general contractor!

The developer has a new website for the project and some updated info perhaps:

I don't know if these are new or not but they are from the website:

I have to say that I like a little more privacy while sitting on the toilet.

Many hotel bathrooms in China are fully glass with no pull-down screens. The better ones still have a window, usually to allow natural light into the room, but at least have a screen (typically more opaque than the example there).

Definitely awkward when traveling with someone for business. Not so much if just family, but still pretty weird.

I'd be more interested in it having a door to keep what happens in there...in there.

I used them in my current house in 2 places....yes they serve that exact purpose....But I wish we would have used pocket doors instead. Live and learn.

The site went quiet late last week. But it's busy this morning.
