I'm so choked I didn't see that. In hindsight $80 would have been worth it.

Might be $10 VERY well spent, plus, the kiddies get in free!

http://www.cemf.info/about/artists/

Not sure why the Habitat stage info isn't showing but if you click on "stages" you will see that their lineup is stellar!

Great venue for this type of event too!

Okay this is a bit late, but how was it? I just saw now that it costed $10 instead of nothing last year. Did that affect the success?

I went to the "Herbie Hancock plays Gershwin" performance last night at the Jack Singer Hall with the CPO. It was an amazing concert. The slight disappointment that he didn't play the first half of the show was more than made up by his performance in the second half. (Glad to see a few straight-up jazz numbers as well as the Gershwin.)

I missed the opportunity to see him play a decade ago, and am glad I finally got the chance. Most of my favorite piano players aren't around anymore, so this was something I'm glad I caught.

Apparently Nenshi was there last night. It was a sold out show.

One of my collegues was pretty stoked for the show but pissed that Hancock spent most of his time playing "shit" songs and posing! LOL

I like piano-led jazz, so I thought the first 3 songs were awesome. I guess it might not be to everyone's tastes, especially as it was very different to the CPO parts. Saying that, 'Rhapsody in Blue' was amazing.

Apparently CBC recorded the concert, and will be broadcasting it on New Years Day on the radio. I really need to figure out a way to record that, as I would love to have another listen.

The lineup for Coachella 2012 is out. Looks AMAZING! Plus this year they are doing the identical show two weekends in a row:

Wish that I had made it out to this one. Looks like a fantastic night. HPR has really come along.

You better decide quickly. When does the EDC lineup come out? EDC is really epic. But Coachella is by far the BEST music festival I have ever been to. I am a big electronic head so EDC is right up my alley.

I only say that you should decide quickly because Coachella tickets go on sale Friday. While they have added an extra weekned it should be sold out by Sunday. They sold out in 48 hours last year.

C'mon Rusty, we all know Coachella isn't in Calgary. BUT it is a big enough event that a lot of people from Calgary would be attending.

Hoping that I can make this year work, but I doubt it. Radiohead, Dre and Snoop alone are once in a lifetime performances.

Buy your coachella tix, especially cause they will probably sell out right away. I go every year, and trust me, it's worth every penny.

Amen Brother.

PLUS, if you can't go, or decide to go to EDC, you are gauranteed to be able to resell them.

Just keep in mind that with Coachella you can't buy single day tickets. You must buy the 3 day pass. It's around $260.

Is anyone going to buy tickets for the Black Keys? I believe tickets go on sale Saturday. I am actually pretty excited to see the Arctic Monkeys who are opening.

Was happy to see The Hold Steady and Archer's of Loaf. Feist would be cool if she reunited with Placebo but I can't see that happening.

Electric Vibe Fest. Noticed this in the latest edition of Avenue. Headliner is Datsik, which is pretty awesome! Glad that we are getting a bit of variety when it comes to electronic music festivals. Now about the name, I thought most people were into battery powered vibes...unless you need more power. I find it funny that Virgin is the main sponser given that the festival name includes its biggest rivals name.

PKsound is doing the sound for this so it should pretty much blow your pants off!

It would be nice if we had free concerts downtown on a weekly basis. Buffalo, NY did it when I was there and still do but have moved it out of heart of downtown to the waterfront.
Lord knows we have the corporate sponsorship power ($) in Calgary to pull it off. I saw Sam Roberts, Arrested Development, Sloan, Eric Bourdon & The Animals, Broken Social Scene, 54-40, The Trews and others that I'm forgetting all for Free. Olympic Plaza is perfect for such an event right in the heart of downtown.

In Buffalo, they are finally starting to charge for bigger name acts but tickets for Feist in July as an example are $10 in advance. As part of Sled Island tickets for her show last night at Olympic Plaza were like $40-50+?

There's a lot of shows in Calgary I'd like to see but can't justify $50 tickets (don't mind paying $20-30ish)
/my rant for the day.
