Probably several reasons: downtown highrises have become a dime a dozen; this is a rare full block site; isn't it the first woodframe to go over 4 stories in Vancouver?

way too much updating by a certain purchaser (westcoaster1)

btw - your assumption of profit to the developer and the assumption of the value increase of your unit are both wrong

Too much?

I wish every project had a fourmer this dedicated to updating the progress.

Yeah no kidding, it's comments like that that will get me to post updates less as they may be seen as 'way too much....'. Sometimes doing photo updates is all about what's convenient to get to on a semi-regular basis...

Giving "too much" information is just the must insane and ridiculous criticism for an online forum devoted to sharing information!?

This building is unique – in being a block lot, in style/design and in how it can change this section of Main/Vancouver. I'm very thankful for westcoaster1's detailed updates and anyone else who shares their info.

I'm hoping for an update on the completion date
A friend who bought in the building said they got an email that the Occupancy Permit is targeted for November. Does that mean move-ins start December? Can't believe they are that ahead!

A lengthy email was received from the marketing manager explaining the process for completion.

Quote: " You will be notified of the “Completion Date” once the building has received an Occupancy Permit from the City of Vancouver. The Occupancy Permit is targeted for November and move-ins are expected to take place shortly thereafter."

A park design has been chosen

"Hillscape" is the chosen design with elements of "Bubbles" Most importantly there will be no hammocks and there will be a food truck parked on the street not a vendor in the park. That's also great because a food truck in this area won't get enough business to actually stay. The park is actually fairly big given the fact the slip street is gone. The design is pretty funky though, but they won't start building it until the spring. They are just going to sod the surface in the meantime.

The first sales centre is gone, they have moved into the northern most town home. The south end of the building is basically complete. They are putting in the sliding glass doors at the end of the bedroom to make those "solarium" type things, otherwise everything is complete, paint, flooring, carpet. They are just in making sure everything is super clean and doing touch ups on paint. The north end is not far behind either and the outside of the building is nearing completion also.

The letter from the developer was pretty vague because it has to be but I still think that occupancy permits will be done before end of November and move ins will start in December.

There are no food trucks on Main St, anywhere, the only one that might be called a food truck is a hot dog vendor at the entrance to IGA at 14th, and that is the only one. At risk of repeating myself, there are no office buildings and not enough foot traffic along Main to support that business. I'm in the food business have worked on some trucks so I know of what I speak.

I know ... a food truck there if the right food would do great. with the shopper and TD and other retail right there.

I was disappointed that all the designs involved so much green space. That's the only thing Vancouverites like, and the architects responded to this. But I thought it would be such a fresh change for this little park to be more like a European plaza. There's a big patch of grass around the corner for those who just can't go without.

From the open house comments I read, I was clearly out-voted.

Google Streets still shows the site as the empty car dealership lot.

The Vancouver Google Street View is from the spring/summer of 2009. With the rapidity of development in Vancouver, many street views already need significant updating.

i passed one further up by like king edward - most food trucks who don't secure downtown locations you follow on twitter to see where they are - coma for instance bounces around from kits to granville to broadway never consistent and not every day - the fans follow them around
