That was rather quick. It appears the that the rebars have also been seperated. Perhaps the the project will be completed in a couple of weeks at the rate the contractors are moving. (I know it will not be complete in a couple of weeks, but just wanted to comment on the pace. Who is the demo contrator?)

I like the new cars...not a fan of the UTA paint job. I wish they would stick to just one color...like

Not that I mind the design, but the fact that it's the same design as FrontRunner makes me want something different.

I'm guessing they are trying to go for the 'all in the family' look. The newer buses/frontrunner and now these new cars all have a similar look. I guess it makes sense...

What? You don't like the red, white and blue UTA design? This must make you unpatriotic and an enemy to America! I'm really just kidding. I couldn't resist a funny rant.

I actually like that they are multi-colored. I personally don't like the train cars that are painted all one single color.

I really prefer the multi-colored. The solid colored trains are very in your face. Our trains are much more sleek and representative of the city.

I actually like the paint scheme to some extent. It does give it a patriotic look but too much white. Perhaps if the colors were a bit more proportionate then I would like it better.

I actually think staggering the colors would be nice. Have each strip of each color become more narrow than the previous and then have it fade into the next color? I see plenty of room for such a design to be able to happen.

It could be confusing. From a distance you might wonder if it's Trax, FR, or a bus.

They sort of already have that on the buses. I like it better on them (and I really do like it, it's probably my favorite bus scheme of any city), but I do like the train scheme as well.

It could happen. It's a busy world. I mean I really don't think it's a big deal, but different colors could help distinguish different types of transit.

Good news. The Salt Lake to Tokyo nonstop restarts again today. The nonstop route is scheduled to operate through the end of October as it did last year. Passenger load factors look much better this year over last now that Northwest and Delta are operating under one reservation system instead of two. That presented some problems last year by not allowing many passengers to book on the SLC-Tokyo flight and routing them through other cities instead, even though there were open seats and better timing on the SLC-Tokyo flight. Every flight this month is oversold!

SLC to Paris year-round continues to do well with very high passenger load factors.

Skyguy, which Delta/Northwest hubs do you see as diminishing in importance as the merger completes, economy recovers and route loads become more apparent? How much of the emphasis do you anticipate will shift to SLC?

The merger is more or less complete. But the Cincinnati hub operation is dwindling quickly (Delta has closed two of its three concourses it operates from there) and I believe will eventually be closed altogether which would make Memphis their smallest hub. In the long run, I don't think the Memphis hub will remain either, despite what Delta currenly says (we won't close any hubs).

Delta can utilize their current fleet more hours per day and be able to expand that way. They already announced they will be hiring 100 pilots later this year, the first time since 2001. So that's a good sign. SLC will see some growth in the future, but they will be conservative about it. It is a vital hub for Delta and will continue to be.

freeway bridges can be blown up as well. - trains are better for the environment, they ease traffic, combat anti social disorder/ human isolationism, and they are necessary for those who cannot drive for various reasons.
