As a govt agency, the blog always had to happen above and beyond our core duties. With some tentative interest in zoning remapping finally percolating with certain council members, district plans proceeding apace, and the sheer number of development proposals requiring review at various levels, my sense is that they're running on all cylinders. I think we were able to cover some good topics on that blog, and I'd love to see it revived occasionally when time permits, but it looks like Twitter and FB are their primary outlets for spreading information these days.

unrelated, someone at PhiladelphiaSpeaks just dropped the un-sourced bomb that The Gallery will close on Jan 31 for a two-year top-to-bottom renovation. Pretty specific for a rumor.
Jan 31 is coming up very fast; if that truly i the case there would have to be some formal notice really soon. Not sure I buy it but who knows if this are the case we have some published source very soon given the timing

I would think most leases would require at LEAST 60 days notice likely more so that makes me think no

At what intersection with Chestnut is the other building? So much happening on Chestnut right now!

I hope this turns out well when all is said and done. In person, the glass is very glare-y and reflective. Almost mirror-like. I think it would look better if it was very clear, transparent glass.

Probably, it's on the National Historic Registry for buildings that don't belong where they are.

Plan Philly's twitter is saying that the whale mural on 2400 Market - Market Design building "will not survive" - according to PMC Property - Jonathan Stavin.

So maybe we all learn more about their plans in the very near future.

^LOL

Though it is cool how the painted brick ad has been exposed (at least for a brief time) after being hidden from view for decades. You can also see how it was "cut off" at the top meaning that building most likely had additional floors at one time. (There were actually several structures around the area there that have "lost" floors over time believe it or not.)

Not sure if Brickstone bought it or not. Apparently they don't even own the parking lot in back according to the site plan I saw posted on Chestnut Street (tried to get a pic but too blurry) They are just "borrowing" a large portion of it to store equipment it seems. Oh, and the remaining fraction of the lot is *still* open for business even though they can fit probably a dozen cars at the very most....

Whoa, interesting. "Any such project would require the ship to be moved from its current location", but to where?
