Carl has been pretty active post his ill fated gubernatorial run, nice to see turning some renewed attention to this project. We'll see if this continues now that he has been elected to the school board.

His son Bill is now leading Ellicott's development efforts- he is much more aggressive than his father. Not only is their backlog of projects getting done, they're going after more (see Main Street purchase in today's Biz First)

Some of these are new to this page, some may already be mentioned. This is the short list. TONS of new development (comparatively). Most of the credit for these images goes to Buffalorising.com, with the remainder being the developers themselves.

"Greenleaf & Company is planning to redevelop the City-owned building by combining it with Greenleaf's three story building at 916 Main Street to create apartments on the upper floors along with first floor commercial space. The developer is working with Carmina Wood Morris on the reuse plan.

Work on Greenleaf's 916 Main Street is expected to start this summer and the two-building, mixed-use project is scheduled to be completed next May."

Tappo to open June 17th

www.buffalorising.com

"The new wave of restaurant openings in downtown Buffalo will continue on June 17 when developer Rocco Termini and restaurateur Michael Andrzejewski unveil Tappo.

Tappo, an Italian-themed restaurant, will open its doors on Ellicott Street in the former Horton Coffee Co. building, a block from the Electric Tower.

Tappo will be open for both lunches and dinners.

The restaurant seats 180 inside and another 50 on its roof."

I liked the previous design too, but this is lighter and brighter. Something Buffalo could use. That water is about ten shades too clear unfortunately.

Catholic Health, Canal Side, Phillips Lytle and Pegulaville (aka Harbor Centre) update

These are in chronological order starting with the shots from about a month or so ago to today.

A bunch of little school kids bused in to play outside at the harbor. Couldn't have imagined this happening even 5 years ago.

How about my unintentional dragon fly shot?

Tower crane in Buffalo, who knew??

Update on 477 Main

New power line supports for the train. They are off to the side of Main street as apposed to in the middle. I would be great it they did this all the way down and got the post out of the road to better accommodate car traffic.

It's pretty amazing downtown- the most construction underway since the early 1980s when Norstar (Fleet/BofA), Goldome, and Hyatt were all under construction at once. Back then residential in the heart of downtown was mostly a dream (minus Waterfront Village) and what was built was heavily subsidized (Ansonia Center). Today there are about 1,000 lofts/apts/condos and another 300 or so planned.

Thanks for the photos. I was at canal side last Friday when the helicopter was buzzing around. Very vibrant and a good mix of people. It's only going to get better with the hotels, shopping, restaurants, casino and (hopefully) residential.

First Glimpse of Explore & More’s New Museum

"Explore & More’s proposed facility at the Aud site at Canalside is coming into focus. Explore & More was selected last year by the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation (ECHDC) to operate the planned children’s museum that is expected to open by Memorial Day weekend 2016.

Flynn Battaglia architects is working with Gyroscope Consultants to create a master plan for the 40,000 sq.ft. museum. ECHDC has committed to contribute between $5 million and $8 million towards the core and shell of the building. Explore & More is raising funding to build out the space including finishes and exhibits. That tab could approach $6 million."
