They have been moving men and material on site all morning. Whoever that was that predicted an "empty" site within 30 days was well, wrong. This is why empty speculation needs to be kept to yourselves.

Mr. Monk quit his detective work to become a contractor in NYC LOL!

Not really a lot of room for clutter on a site that small.
I see no outhouses or junk piles to offend potential buyers or investors either....HIGH CLASS right from the basement up!

Seeing all the walls & foundations of other buildings reminds me of the old Tetris videogame, Crazy how fast this is moving along. Thanks for the updates!

I was also wondering if the open space would be usable or very windy/drafty,
How were the conditions on top of the old WTC open observation deck? I'm guessing this would be simmilar.

If money was no object, I'd buy the top floor and make some money back by putting in an observation deck complete with the coin-op binoculars
SSP members would get in free, all others could pay what the ESB charges. LOL!
This building does not have open balconies. It will have a tuned mass damper. You would not be allowed to turn your space into an observation deck due to zoning.

^ If you could buy the top floor (or one of the top floors), just buy some binoculars, and charge 500 dollars a pop (secretly) to offer people the chance to see he best view in the city. But you'll get stopped eventually.

Yeah, it really is exciting! If you look at the webcam now, it appears as if they are already placing formwork... These guys are wasting no time.

The inner form wall for the first basement floor core seems to be just about completed.

If they can keep this up, then considering the small floor size, this building is going to be topped out before any of us know it.

I predict early 2014.

Once this clears the adjacent buildings, it should shoot up pretty quickly. Getting to that point will likely take more time than any of us here would like, but it should move very fast once they're in clear air space and formwork can just keep jumping.

Grillages?

from http://432park.com Originally posted by ATLksuGUY 9/20/12

Since the work today is so fast and furious, and this part of the foundation will disappear from view - I want to re-post a question I asked several pages ago, but got no response.

I'm curious about the four grillages in the core. It's seems odd these would be used here as I have not seen them used in modern highrise construction. There were usually used to distribute heavy loads in soft soil. Many Chicago skyscrapers were built this way.

I'm wondering what they would support here - I mean it seems redundant to use these ALONG WITH with the other columns using deep tendons embedded in bedrock.

I don't know if I'm making any sense. Perhaps Marcatio could help me out here?

Don't know which will have a better Central Park view this, One57, (or ever 225 W 57th). I'll go with One57 for now.
