Steel along Wilshire is being set first to prepare for relocation of Tower Crane #3 (West side). It will be sitting on a platform cantilevered over Wilshire. In addition to this, the concrete work on South side has been holding up getting steel erected on that side.

Thanks SLJR for the explanation. I was down there several hours ago and saw that they had poured more of the p1 level and jumped up several floors with 4 more columns above the Wilshire side. An incredible show going on there over the entire site. There was no action at that time. Are the 1st crews back in at 1am.

Looks like the cantileved tower crane support steel is taking shape in that last pic from Eightball. Should be interesting!

[QUOTE=Eightball;6869293]Today:

Eightball have you been to the Takami Sushi restaurant on the 21st floor of 811 Wilshire. It has an open deck. you can take pictures with no glass in you're way. It is the building on the far left in this picture with the large windows on top. They are open about 4:30pm

Nice to see the steel rising above the street, especially as it will be crowned tallest in the city.

Barry White approves.

Yea but it's not a fair title. Oh well, to me. Library Tower should remain the TRUE tallest for the near future until something better & edgier comes along to take Tallest in the WEST!!

It counts just the same as the tallest buildings in the world with spires count.

It bothers my OCD that this building will forever be under construction in Grand Theft Auto V.

I think the building that inspired the under-construction building in GTAV wasn't the Wilshire Grand, but the Ritz Marriot tower at LA Live. Think about it- the game probably started development in '08 or '09 and they would have done their location scouting around that time. During that period, the Ritz was the big tower under construction.

Perhaps. It is definately much taller than the Ritz-Carlton which is why I always assumed it was a nod to the Wilshire. I have seen movie and game designers be pretty up with future skyscraper plans before. Big Hero 6 had San Frans future supertall in the skyline and COD had some of the WTC towers that were way in the future. Either way, I wish they would patch it for the online game so it is finished.

Never been, though I've eaten at many of the other sushi restaurants nearby. I'll obviously check Yelp but they have good food?
