Welcome to SSP!
I cant resist, but being a plumber at AQUA! Now thats some high-profile plumbing!
Seriously, we all would love to hear about your inside experiences during the construction of this great tower!
When I was a little kid, I would always wonder how my turd at the top of the Hancock could possibly make it all the way down! Its was like magic! I would flush the observation deck toilets again and again, just to experience the amazing anti-gravity physics!! No, this isnt a joke, true story!!

Do we mind? Absolutely not! There's nothing better on this forum than being joined by some of the people who work on the projects.

Please feel free to tell us about any of your experiences, and thanks for chiming in.

Wow this Aqua thing has grown a TON since I last looked here. I'll have to chime in more now, what with glass facade coming right around the corner, a project worker in the forum, and the talk of falling turds. How can I resist?

Great insider news - what is a skip ?

Hiding the problems and hazards these men (and women) face leads to an under appreciation of their efforts.

Holy shit!

27 yards of concrete? Was this wet or dry concrete? Sounds like wet... and it sounds like an incredible tonnage. Im glad no one was injured...
Keep us informed of developments, OK? Very interesting! Thank you!

Tell your co-workers that me, some guy on the East Coast, believes that they are working on one hell of a project.

Its too bad the floors are not about a foot taller to give this incredible building another 100 feet!!!! The ceiling heights appear so short here

heres somethin else for ya......when they were putting the 3 giant I-beams in place over ComEd nobody was allowed in there shanty (located on p4 level below crane) or anywhere in the garage area underneath the crane at all because everything was at maximum capacity when the picks were being made

Nice night photos harryc! From that view, on completion, 2Pru will barely be visible, if at all.

oh, and yes it was wet concrete, flowing off the top of the deck like a waterfall. Also, to give you a better idea, 27 yards is almost 4 truck loads....there's 7 yards in each truck

^ How long did it take for that much to flow down on top of the poor fellow? I imagine it was "raining" for quite a while!?

Wow, what a mess... I guess that spill probably delayed work by a few days? Did the concrete harden (at least partially) before it was cleaned up? That would not be an easy cleanup job.

im not sure exactly how long it was coming down for. i had left work for the day already when it happened. i heard they were there until 930 at night. work really wasnt delayed though. the next day i would have never have known it even happend if i didnt ask the operator why he switched cars. and i would imagine the concrete began to cure somewhat. the concrete they use cures extremely fast, you can walk on it on one end while theyre still pouring on the other end and before we started using the flying forms, if they pour early in the day, theyll start decking the next floor later that same day.....and im not sure how much some of you know about construction but for those who dont know, the concrete gives off a lot of heat. while its setting or curing or hardening (whatever u wanna say) you can put your hand over it and feel the heat. Also, right beneath the deck there are huge heaters to help the process along in the colder months. that is why there is plastic on the floor below....to try and keep the heat in.....it makes for a nice break area this time of year if your on the deck crew
