These abandoned old houses are called 'nuisance properties' — and Regina is full of them

there were 169 boarded-up properties in North Central and 39 in Heritage
That’s a whole town of abandoned buildings, and the city can’t do something to rid rid of these they are useless as a teats on a bore what is wrong with city hall

looking a little Detroit-ish in those pics. bulldoze them.. and build some affordable housing. Those are such eyesores.. feel bad for the folks that have to live in that area and look at those.

And yet in the article, one of the women specifically states they don't want affordable housing. It doesn't surprise me there are so many nuisance houses. Demolition by neglect has been happening downtown for years as well.

There are a ton of slumlords, renting out barely inhabitable houses. It's not just the boarded up, post-fire-investigation properties. But there is no political will to go after landlords with any sort of regulatory framework. Instead we're getting the ward boundaries redrawn next election so the hood will get divided up into other wards and their concerns will be even more ignored.

There is very low demand for the Regina Housing Authority affordable housing in that area. High demand in other areas of the city. The vacancy rate for the city as a whole used to be about 20% not that long ago, so I imagine it is even higher in that area.

What is it? Haven't seen anything in any of the local news sources I check. A search found a story from a month ago announcing a terminal upgrade (rail loop and new handling equipment), is it just re-announcing that?

One of our largest and oldest grain assets in Canada is undergoing a major expansion.

Work is underway to make significant upgrades to our terminal in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. The project includes a double loop track that will be constructed to accommodate up to 148 CP high-capacity cars and 3 three locomotives for continuous loading. An upgraded shipping system is also being installed to make rail car loading more efficient, and reduce loading times.

The facility was opened in October, 1914 as a Canadian Government Grain Elevator. Viterra purchased the elevator in 1989 and has since continued to make investments to modernize it as part of our focus on operational excellence.

Earthwork for the project started in April, and is scheduled for completion this fall in time for harvest shipping.

Some stacked condos proposed for just south of the Hawkstone Coop gas station. The notice also included a general overview of the area. I was wondering what the long term plans for around Junor Drive were, and its commercial / industrial.

The land, 390 acres located south of the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Regina Campus, was selected as the preferred site, according to a news release from the province.

The new facility will be owned and operated by the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA).

“This is the building for the future,” Minister of Health Paul Merriman said. “It’s the largest long term care facility in the province.”

Bridge girders for south Albert Ring Road bridge might be going up this weekend. All the steel is laying on the ground in one of the closed lanes.

The vacancy rate for RHA has nothing to do with desirability of the neighbourhoods. It has to do with punitive policies whereby someone can’t go flowers on a patio or vegetables as a great example of one.

There is a desperate need for housing, access to housing, and supports without the authoritarian policies that are currently exhibited by SHC and RHA. The 70+ people living on the front lawn of City Hall are a prime example of that currently.

I was looking up info for the Viterra crushing plant and saw in a presentation that the water supply would be handled by the SaskWater crown corp. Looking on Sasktenders the 2 pipelines I came across appear to be a part of larger project. SaskWater is building a 65km non-potable water pipe from Buffalo Pound to Regina for industrial users. Makes sense to not use treated water for industrial purposes. A 16" line heads over to Cargill and a 20" line is headed to north Regina.

Sask. Drive Corridor plan coming before city council Wednesday
Inclusion of the Saskatchewan Drive Corridor Plan in the city's community plan is the next step in moving the major project along for a 2024 start.———
This has been talked about for the last seems like forever years

The pandemic pushed back the public consultation phase a year or more.

Homelessness due to not having flower pots? Now I've heard it all.
