Thanks aaron38. Any idea what's in those crates in the bottom center of the picture? It looks like the crates that the windows for 340 OTP were delivered in.

^If it were topped off at that level and received the same facade treatment that it will eventually get, it would already be one of the city's trendier-looking condos generating a good amount of talk (especially if it were anywhere outside of Chicago). I can't wait to see that bad boy - and people's reaction to it - when it's stretched out to 83 floors.

Great work Andy.

I have a structural question. Aqua doesn't seem to be keeping pole shores around very long, especially on the balconies, compared to other projects.

Do other projects just keep them up longer because they don't need to take them down, or is Aqua using some special higher strength concrete that cures faster?

^^^ Wow, now the balconies are really starting to cut deep and get really dramatic! This will be completely wild by the time they reach the real stuff closer to the top!

Aqua got a short nod from the NYT today:

Remaking the Condo With Light and Air

.....In recent months, major projects have been undertaken or completed in New York by Herzog & de Meuron, Shigeru Ban and Jean Nouvel, among others (and plans for a 75-story luxury tower by Mr. Nouvel have been announced).

In Chicago, Jeanne Gang, a disciple of Rem Koolhaas, has created a mesmerizing rippled facade for the 80-story Aqua Tower, a mix of hotel rooms and rental and condo apartments now under construction.....

glad you enjoyed the update guys. This one really is becoming a favorite of mine, 1st for the fast pace of construction and 2nd for the crazy shaped balconies. With each more balcony added it looks even more awesome. I just hope when we see the first glass it really matches the facade and the balconies very well.
