Oh ya he did, but still though the GTA is a slightly broader term for the Toronto CMA, the whole GTA is dense, but the Toronto CMA is moreso. The Majority of municipalities outside of the Toronto CMA (But within the GTA), are largely suburban in nature with much more single Family Detached Homes than u see in the much larger Toronto Suburbs of Mississauga, Brampton, & Markham. (Which all have dense/ built up Downtown Cores as well).
So if the GTA is allowed to use Lower Density Communities to boost its population to maybe 500-600k up on the CMA then why can't Calgary use Okotoks/ the Foothills also? Those people are closely/ economically tied towards Calgary alot no?

Huh? The GTA doesn't include Hamilton either, which would boost the number up by 700,000 or so.

Ya but that's not the GTA either, that's even more extensive. That's the "Greater Toronto & Hamilton Area". I'm not asking Calgary to add its Entire Census Division. (Which would be Alberta Census Division #6). Or Mountainview County, to its CMA's numbers. (Even I know that's fairly extensive an area). I'm just saying if Toronto can add a couple of extra places then why is Calgary somehow not allowed to add Okotoks & the Foothills to its CMA? Its essentially the same concept as the GTA IMO.
After all the "Calgary Region" isn't the Calgary CMA, just like the GTA isn't the Toronto CMA either, get what I'm saying? Their just slightly broader terms.
Somehow Toronto gets a pass with using the GTA/ seeing that as its True Metro. But Calgary isn't allowed to use the "Calgary Region" because everyone looses their shit everytime I say Calgary is 1.6 Million. & saying Calgary is smaller while Ignoring Okotoks/ the Foothills is annoying because it makes us lose out on opportunities because of our perceived market size. (I believe u pointed that out about Toronto on the Statistics Canada Thread also no?)

How about sticking to the photos we are lucky to get from the photography crowd. This isn't about compairing/criticizing.
Tosin: just curious, how old are you?

Well, it's two folded. It's hard to deny that Montreal has a more expansive urban area however, every city has great urban streets and the best boils down to preference.

26 Also your probably right, I just wish that
Calgary gets to be 1.6 Million if Toronto gets to be 7 Million.

As a person who grew up in Toronto and now lives in Vancouver, let me say that Montreal is a superb city at street level in many areas. I especially enjoy the streets on either side of McGill and also, of course, Vieux Montréal. I've loved Montréal since my parents allowed me to visit Expo 67 on my own as a 16 year old. Teenager on his own for the first time in a big city! Magic! I also always appreciate the photos of the city, or any city, particularly when they are of the quality of many shots on this board. Keep posting!

But there are great urban experiences to be had in a number of Canadian cities. There is no need to run down other cities in order to elevate your own.

Let's not pretend that Montreal doesn't have the best streetscapes

It just seems insecure bringing it up on a skyline thread.

I think Québec city may have the best. Their streetscapes are certainly the most unique, if at times un peu trop touristique. If I had to recommend just one urban walk (or bike ride) to a visitor to Canada, I might say,"Go around the sea wall in Stanley Park." And if we are talking about skyscrapers, which is what the name of this site might suggest, it's Toronto.

But Montréal is right up there. A lovely city!

Agree with you but many people do precisely that. They're happy as long as they feel that they've one upped someone else, richer than the next guy, or have a nicer car, etc. In their minds that makes them a success. It's sad, the worst of the human condition, and self defeating .... but they rarely come to that realization.

The problem is that all that talk is so damn boring; no matter the source, it is essentially an ongoing repetition of the same stuff that countless others have already said.

What are people rambling about with Americans and populations? Americans I've encountered all use municipal populations and get almost confrontational if you try to use anything else...
