This is kinda how I feel as well.
On one hand, it's great to see that this site is finally getting something because something is better than nothing. It's also a good sign to see that Chicago is still able to construct something given market conditions.
But on the other hand, this does feel like wasted potential. It would definitely be awesome to see Chicago get a megatall and this site is a good location for one given the impact on the skyline. Plus having the foundation from the Spire would I assume help with the costs. It's definitely disappointing to see Chicago falling behind other cities with its tallest building not even being in the top 20 anymore. Chicago is also no longer in the top 10 for cities with most skyscrapers.
Oh well, maybe Chicago will get a megatall someday and make a comeback. Hopefully in my lifetime!
I'm still happy to see that at least something is getting built and that the 800+ft. streak will continue!
