Should you like to see taller towers in the CBD of Austin, then you obviously did not think your comments through. Austin is encumbered by Capital View Corridors. Should "50" more mid-rise towers be built in its CBD, on currently available property, we would not have enough room for another high-rise.

I would also like to see infill...having said that, I assume your "50" mid-rise buildings was at least a slight exaggeration.

I had some time to kill so I walked around catching Pokemon and snapping some pics of developments. Here's Seaholm looking all snazzy.

They painted this wall. It looks much better now.

Boiler Nine restaurant. Really want to go to this place. The upstairs part looks really cool.

The real reason I went over there. The new Austin Public Library looks to be nearing completion. It turned out better than I expected. Especially the front side (facing Cesar Chavez). Grand opening is in November. Check out that "art wall".

This lawn looks really sexy now. It will be awesome when they start holding events here.

This is pretty neat. And you don't need ArcGIS for it. Can view it online at ESRI.

Just give it a couple of seconds to fully load the layers. Anyways, once the layers load, it will categorize them (mixed use, industrial, residential, ect.) and you can click on the polygons to get more info on the parcel/project.

Development Map: http://www.arcgis.com/home/webmap/vi...f9ed8df5ece62f

Remember to zoom in and lots of parcels with different functions will load up. Covers a big portion of the city.

How do you put in a parking basement under an existing building?

Besides Fairmont, Block 1 is going the make the biggest impact on the skyline from this angle. It will pretty much cover up the Ashton, but one good thing about it is that, with it's gradation, it may still offer some views of 100 Congress and the top of 1 Congress Plaza. The rest of the buildings will just make the skyline look fuller. Colorado Tower will (mercifully) block 301 Congress, The Bowie will make The Monarch's fatness less pronounced, and 7Rio will (mercifully) hide 700 Lavaca.

But, man, Austin's beautiful. And it's only getting prettier. It's gonna seem like a huge city after these next few buildings are done.

Isn't it in fact a big city though?

But I agree, it's evolving into another one of America's iconic skylines.

Still under construction. It's moving very slowly. I'm not sure it's still going to look exactly like the rendering. It's tough to tell at this point.

Hill Country, that affordable housing comment was funny.... We need more photos of buildings and renderings on this forum! If Shonda Novak doesn't announce a new building soon, I'm gonna start playing SIM city and sniff glue.

But it's BROWN! Why is this building brown!? Austin is looking cool in blue--this is brown. I know it's just a rendering, but it's brownnnn! Why did they think this would look great in brown? The whole building is brown. Look at it, look at all the brown!
