Speaking of Cisco, one of their trucks was in front of Cibo Cafe today. Oh well.

I know the people that own the Timmies in the same complex and the few times I have done an evening Tims run to their store I have looked inside @ Browns and its busy.

I checked out the Menu online and it does not have a lot of depth. it looks like its a single sheet double sided.

There are certain things like food service supplies (garbage bags, mops etc), sugar salt etc that it might make sense to have delivered by Sysco or GFS.

Having the truck there does not mean Cibo is buying frozen entrees from them

Yeah pretty much every restaurant buys something from Sisqo, even if it's just fryer oil and ice cream. They actually supply a lot of fresh produce too. Not that they don't deserve their reputation for frozen food crap. Their "chefs" are constantly trying to up-sell restaurants on everything from Pop Tarts to fish sticks.

Unburger was cited for unsanitary conditions, just did a google search.

That certainly was a stupid name. I also assumed it was vegetarian.

There seems to be demand for these sort of places. I know Original Joes* opened three new locations within the last 12-18 months if you include their covertly named "State and Main" location. Brown's is already onto their second location in the city. These type of places tend to be somewhat successful is the food is relatively approachable for a wide range of people and they locate them close to where people live. There is a reason Boston Pizza has been a very successful chain for 50 years.

Recently opened in the former Basil's space - 135 Osborne. Has anyone tried this yet? I am going on Saturday.

^ Thanks for posting the link. On one hand it looks enticing, but on the other hand I am wary given that it's run by the same group that bought, and then ran 7 1/4 into the ground with alarming speed, no?

Oh, I think you're right about the ownership group. I forgot about that. I really hope this concept succeeds because the location can't be beat. It's a great space with a potentially great patio. It's a shame it's been vacant for so long.

They're only one of the partners, there's a few involved. I know them, young guys — it should be great. The drink prices are awesome — $4 draft, $5 bottles, $8 double craft cocktails.

Glad Black Rabbit is finally open, I used to like Basil's and thought that spot was in too-great of a location to sit vacant that long.

Speaking of cocktails, it looks like work is underway on a cocktail bar at the old Mondragon space on Albert... I think 1ajs may have mentioned it a while back.

WOW Hospitality eatery recommended for Esplanade Riel space according to Cbc report.

Civic admin recommends that WoW operate a seasonal (May to end of Sept) in the restaurant space.
