In 5-10 years council will say just because it was on top of the survey doesn't mean we actually promised to do that.

Even relatively simple project like that typically has a 2 year lead time. It needs funding which they'd wait until the next budget to allocate as it's not deemed urgent, then they have to get it engineered, then bid it out months before construction starts.

I noticed the airport has a light up X as the end of the runway that is under construction telling planes, "don't land here".

Considering pilots have landed commercial planes on taxiways at other airports, this seems prudent!

I assume the library will move to the former Sears main floor and basement.

Question on that: When Sears closed they were at main floor and second floor, I don’t remember a basement but is there currently one that was blocked off? I know original Hudson’s Bay Cornwall Centre store was 4 floors.

Maybe I am confusing the Bay basement with Sears. I assume there is nothing in the old Eaton's/Bay basement?

A few transit related tenders over the past week. Up to 51 electric buses through 2028 last week and a fare system for mobile phones this week.

I remember in the 90s & even early 2000s Sears had all their bargain stuff in the basement (if I am remembering correctly that is). As I specifically remember buying things at a discount down there.

Nicor has picked up land across from the General Hospital and is talking about a multi-family development.

Great idea for sure. Good selection of tree types. I wish once in a while they would consider doing some of these on a weekend. They complain that the downtown isn't active outside of the work week and yet continue to hold these events as noon hour activities during the work day. Way to reinforce the work day is the only time downtown matters.
