Lunch at State and Main a big disappointment as it does not carry any local brewed beer except 1 and it is not even branded "Alley Kat". Labatts employ hundreds of people in Edmonton and State and Main don't carry a single draft or even from Yellowhead. We won't be back until they show support for beer brewed in Edmonton and region. Why would we support State and Main when they don't support our local breweries big, small and the hundreds of workers employed in the beer industry here in Edmonton and region.

Drinks & appy's at 1903 yesterday evening. Very nice space with great attention to detail. Lots of bottled beer but would have liked to see a few more on tap... The Yellowhead is okay but a little bland I find. Mozza plate and short ribs very tasty. Room is a little cavernous and loud, but definitely worth checking out

Dinner later at Pho & Bun - unassuming little place is a strip mall in Forest Heights. Place was very busy, very orange in there but very clean.. Unusual for a Vietnamese resto. One of the better Pho bowls I've had. This one is definitely worth a visit

was up on the north side yesterday around lunch and grabbed a bite at Cafe Sorrentino (97th and 153rd). What a great place! I need to hit up the one on 107th ave, or the new one in Mayfair South for lunch more often.

I go to the Caffe Sorrentino in City Centre Mall once in a while. Paninis are good, espresso coffees are delicious. And gelato!

I've been known to go to Cafe Sorrentino at YEG if I make it through security with enough time to walk all the way down there. Love their coffee and snacks!

Got to RGE RD on the weekend.

The room itself is comfortable. The Staff are very good and knowledgeable.

The food was hit and miss, sorry to say.
Green Bean Salad.-Lemon curd, mushrooms, poached egg and pecorino. Good
Kitchen Board pretty much all meat and cheese. The ribs were a bit salty but over all good.
Questionable bits- beef Carpaccio and beef liver. The liver was fantastic but I was hoping for more “questionable bits”.
Mains were a mix
There was a chicken dish that was so lacking I do not even remember what it was.
Bison from Pilatus Farms- Barley, kohlrabi, pickled walnuts smoke marrow and onion. Good
And I had the sweet pea Alberta pickerel with stewed peppers fresh ricotta and rotto. Good not outstanding.
The deserts were lacking any real wow factor. I had a pumpkin dish that had no flavor at all.

Will I go back? Yes but I will not rush. I’ll head back to 19 first.

Was fortunate enough to go to Chef Ramsay London in NYC Friday.

Unfortunately it was not what we were expecting!

Our first course was a Scallop, Lobster, Oyster with greens. Scallop was very fishy as well as the Oyster. Lobster was good though. But this is something I could have done better at home.

My girl had the Lamb. Now she cooks very good lamb at home and has for years. Lamb should be cooked so as not to have a very big odor of lamb. This lamb absolutely was reeking! no garlic and not that much spice.

I had the duck....I ordered it medium well. It came to the table bleeding!!!!!!!

Good news....the desert was really good.

The manager came over to ask us how it was. Seeing that my better half has waited 6 years to go to one of his restaurants...she politely articulated our displeasure. The manager said a new chef started last week and he was finding his groove.

The manager bought us 2 glasses of 20 year old port. Brought us some bread and cheeses...yum. He then took us for a tour of the kitchen gave my girl a sighed autograph pic of chef Ramsay in that kitchen. And the took off 150.00 bucks from our bill. Amazing service by the waiters and the manager.

Wow what great management and service skills the guy had. He made the meal special for you even with its faults. Glad your lady enjoyed and you took her somewhere she wanted to go even it was 6 years late... lol

Yeah it was pretty cool. Some of the best food was from the street venders. The Margherita pizza at the Milford bar was easy in my top 5 pizzas I have ever had!

We hit up the Cake Boss store right on 8th Ave. These were some of the best desserts I have ever tasted.

Lobster Tail

Cheese cake crumble

Oreo chocolate parfait

Total...24.00!!!!

The new downtown Cactus Club patio has been enclosed in a plastic tarp. Not sure if I approve of that.

Its for fall and winter...and unzips in nicer weather...relax and enjoy. In Rome many patios are enclosed in glass for air-conditioning

Rome and paris both have that style of patio. Last Wed and Thurs I saw people sitting in the patio section at lunch. Plus walking by you feel the heat radiating from it.
