I've always wondered how they did shoring for big digs like this. Thanks for the photo example!

On site today they were pouring some concrete in the NW corner. They seem to big digging fairly quickly for only one excavator running. Lots to do yet but seems to be a decent start now.

From Capital Pointe Instagram

Above is a pic of what was delivered. They have already put about 3-4 of these into the ground and have had more delivered.

Also, from the picture, they are putting in the wood planks.

does any body know what happens to the planks after they finish the dig?

Are they abandoned in place? do they get removed and reused? are they sent to the dump?

Concrete will be poured against the planks after waterproofing and such.. Also known as a blind wall.. Tons of pressure in those walls ten times more pressure than pouring in standard concrete walls.. If this is to happen. They can blow very easily if not done properly.

I hear through the construction grapevine, that some more contracts have been awarded on Rebar and the Elevators. Not sure on anything else.

"H" and "Piles" together sounds very much like describing a((n) unpleasant!) medical condition ... I agree, "I Piles" might have been a more suitable term!

Now, if you've clicked the link and read the subsequent page, you have become more educated! ... What? Too much info?!

Also through the construction grapevine. Rumour is Pagnotta industries is very close to having the formwork and concrete contract for structure of building as ITC is the general contractor... Waiting owners approval. Keep in mind anything can change and another company could take contract on structure. Just something I have been hearing

^So pretty much continuing with the same rate of progress as usual. This might not be done for the next time Regina hosts the Grey Cup.

They are actually doing quite a lot. There are some huge skyscraper piles in place and there is lots of shoring underway. I remember with Mosaic Tower there is a lot of work to be done before they can get too deep.

That's exactly correct; the Mosaic Tower's subterranean levels took forever to prep.

And there were only 2 levels U/G. I looked back at the Mosaic Tower thread and we were talking about it for probably 7-8 months before they got back to grade.

I think we all know it's going to take a while. I'm just tempering my optimism.

I will be fully optimistic that we will see a completion of this tower in my lifetime once a tower crane is in place. My assumption is that the tower crane is one of the biggest ongoing expenses in one of these builds... Does anyone now what the cost of a tower crane is to lease on a monthly basis. I think I remember someone mentioning a price on the stadium build site but I cant find it.

Each tower crane at the stadium was $40,000/month.
