Funny that your take on this Toronto shot is so positive considering it's mostly just a bunch or generic green condos, just like Vancouver.

Look how jumbled it is. Do you love it? Looks a lot more Sao Paulo here too.

^ When you get those kinds of views, it can be hard to tell them apart (of course we can, but many people would have no clue without the signature tower or buildings).

Most people couldn't name you any cities skyline if you showed them a picture of a city in foreign country, with or without a signature building.
For example, this is one of the largest cities in one of the largest county in the world but most here couldn't name it based on the skyline

With buildings as tall as in the Toronto shot it looks nothing like SP to me. Their tallest buildings are only around 170m. I've never associated SP with a lot of glass either. I'm sure there's some given the size of the city but it looks mostly concrete from pics I've seen.

Come to think of it, SP isn't really that jumbled either given its uniformity of height and materials.

I would guess most skylines could not be identified on the fly even with the tallest towers present in the photos. I mean a snowy Vancouver looks like Edmonton because Edmonton is assocaited with snow or Toronto looks like Sao Paulo because of the seemingly endless high rises.

The predominant South America highrise is skinny and not glass. That's the antitheses of a Toronto high rise.

Some snaps from Cartagena 2019. I was surprised by how little glass was used in highrise development but in the hot climate is suppose it make sense eh?

You have to consider that the tower in the first picture probably has 2 units per floor. In Toronto, the average is well over ten units per floor. A middle unit (non corner) in an all "glass" tower will have one narrow wall with windows; considerably less glass than any of these towers when it comes to living space. Bedrooms in a Toronto high rise may not have an exterior window.

Nice pics of Cartagena.

Reminds a bit of Panama. Panama has more glass though.

The reality of how the skyline is seen from various locations through the grit of the city. It's not the usual postcard view.

Love that beach view with the smoke stacks in front of the modern skyline.

The Toronto skyline is massive. I wonder how it compares to the Chicago skyline in number of building and ground it covers?

Both skylines run in almost a straight line, Toronto's was built running north from the lake with Yonge being the spine, and in Chicago the skyline runs along the lake. Chicago has multiple supertalls, but Toronto is catching uop on the front very quickly it seems.

Toronto blows Chicago out of the water on most fronts nowadays. Chicago only really beats Toronto in density (Chicago 4,656.33/km2 vs Toronto 4,427.8/km2), ever so slightly, and metro population, which seems overly generous in the U.S. (in terms of area covered, 28,120 km2 for Chicago vs. 7,123.64 km2 for Toronto).
