Oh it's fine. More pull factors to home than push factors from here.

Though it is quiet, spread out, car-dependent, thousands of pickups, very few sidewalks, etc. and the architecture is, to me, hideous, cheap, generic. The colours are dull.

It looks decent enough to me. Much better than Corner Brook. I still remember the pictures of Corner Brook SSH posted once and the place didn’t look so great. The coffee shop he went to looked like it was in a hangar.

11C and sunny. Spectacular day. Zero wind as well so it made it extra pleasant.

Low of 0C (wind chill of -3) this morning.

The warmspot was Lytton, BC at 15.3C.

Warmest low was Cumshewa Island, BC at 8.3C.

Definitely a fair impression. And most of CB has a similar vibe - but more hills, two main streets, a bit more colour. I do think CB is prettier. It's also almost 3x the size and at these small scales that really matters.

Oh wait a minute. I got the names mixed-up somehow. Corner Brook actually has a nice setting. The place I had in mind that was quite unremarkable was Gander or Grand Falls-Windsor, I can’t recall.

It's a small town, there probably isn't much money to spruce it up. Maybe people think about the essentials for everyday life

Yesterday felt like a very nice fall day, around 10 degrees, overcast, calm conditions. Gave way to some serious rain fall in the late afternoon/evening.

Similar today, albeit quite windier. Currently 7 going up to 10.

Here are some pics I took yesterday, around High Park area. Things are budding/blooming way earlier than normal. Significantly earlier; you usually don't see this until early April.

A bit of a concern with temps as low as -7 coming early next week, according to EC. But after that cold snap, looks like we finish March around seasonal with highs in the upper single digits/low teens.

Yes, I'm prepared to endure a sluggish start to spring to ensure that we don't get a July and August dominated by smoky skies.

Pretty much all the snow we goy 2 weeks ago is gone. Some deck time this weekend

And time to park the winter bike and bring out one of the summer ones.

Another grey morning, expecting rain to begin around lunch time with the high expected to reach 6°. The long range for the next week is for generally cooler than seasonal temps, but there are encouraging signs for the final week of the month. Through the Ides, March will come in just about right on seasonal for both temperatures and precipitation.

At 10am YWG has overcast skies, winds moderate from the south and a chilly and raw 1°.

Though this time next week we may have snow on the ground again based on the EC forecast!

Waiting at the airport a little too early But still beats that slog across the island by road.

Some good news at least, lovely day in town.

Ooof.

That's Northern Ontario-level distance digits on those signs.

There's just this one for fun - I wonder how many people passing this sign are actually going anywhere near that far.

Kind of depressing, like you're in Terrace Bay heading to the "big city" Sudbury ha.

I remember twenty years ago talking to some ex Corner Brookers, about their big move to Kitchener as teenagers. On their flight into Toronto, they mistook NYCC for downtown. After moving to KW, they went to downtown Toronto once by Greyhound, saying downtown Yonge Street was "terrifying."
