pier 94 via brad hoylman:

Investing in NYC’s Film & TV Industry

On October 24, I attended the groundbreaking of Sunset Pier 94, which represents a significant investment in New York City’s film and television industry and one of the most important public amenities in Manhattan, the Hudson River Park. I’m grateful for this innovative collaboration that will both create jobs and improvements to the park, as well as workforce development and training programs to help connect our local residents to opportunities in film and TV.

New York Studio Project Adds Blackstone And Hudson Pacific Properties; $350M Pier 94 Site Will Have Manhattan’s First Purpose-Built Film And TV Stages

By Dade Hayes
August 29, 2023

The future site of Manhattan’s first purpose-built film and TV soundstages has added two blue-chip backers, private equity firm Blackstone and real estate company Hudson Pacific Properties.

Office space giant Vornado Realty Trust had already been aboard the Sunset Pier 94 Studios project, which has been in the works for several years. The three companies have now formed a private-public partnership with the New York City Economic Development Corp., committing a total of $350 million to the effort. The location along the Hudson River and the West Side Highway is about a mile north of Chelsea Piers, a long-established TV production hub. It is a few blocks west of the Broadway theater district and the studio homes of several late-night TV shows.

Transformative Plan Unveiled to Save America's Flagship

https://myemail.constantcontact.com/...id=uPqb4Wtczlk

There is a plan to move the massive ocean liner S.S United States to New York. The ship has been abandoned in Philadelphia since 1996. She is still structurally intact, but looks quite rough. RXR is in on this plan as well.

Ooh, I really hope this happens. Would be amazing to see the SS United States permanently docked on the West Side.

In my humble opinion, Staten Island development doesn't need its own thread. Every borough would need its own thread if SI does and that just doesn't make any sense. It will just get lost anyway. Thanks for posting but SI stuff in the NYC development pool thread NEW YORK | MID/LOW RISES | General Developments Updates/Compilation

Not sure if a 7-story building in New York merits a standalone thread this forum. A 70-story building, absolutely, but not 7.

NYC begins search for developers to build 500+ residential units on North Shore waterfront

Updated: Mar. 14, 2024
By Paul Liotta | pliotta@siadvance.com

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Work continued on New York City’s revitalization efforts along the North Shore Thursday, as Mayor Eric Adams’ administration began its search for a developer to bring more than 500 units of housing to the Stapleton waterfront.

The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), led by President and CEO Andrew Kimball, published a request for proposals (RFP) to develop a portion of the old Stapleton Homeport into housing, as part of the Adams administration’s North Shore Action Plan.

Hundreds of construction and long-term jobs to be added to Staten Island shipping terminal as new tenant invests $200M+

Updated: Oct. 27, 2023
By Paul Liotta | pliotta@siadvance.com

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The shipping terminal at Howland Hook will see more than $200 million in investments thanks to a new tenant who took over the site at the end of last month, the Advance/SILive.com has learned.

Gov. Kathy Hochul will announce the $200-$300 million investment from French shipping company, CMA CGM, during a press conference later Tuesday at her Manhattan office, but her office shared information with the Advance/SILive.com about the deal that officials believe will bring the terminal in-line with some of the top port sites around the nation.

The investment, the largest in Howland Hook’s history, will fund reconstruction and rehabilitation of wharves and ship berths, as well as upgrades to cargo handling equipment and expansion of yard capacity, according to the governor’s office.
