One good thing about the desert is that rain very rarely will ruin your outdoor plans. My youngest daughter's backyard birthday party in late April was 16 degrees and dry. The following weekend was the neighbour's and it was 6 and rained the whole day.
My oldest's is August. But I never set a date more than a few days in advance for the backyard party for the kids on the street. I was always planning on having two parties for those kids and some from school. Plus, it makes up for those who couldn't come to the first one. Well, first day I planned it was forecasted to rain so I said we'll push it to the following day which had 30% chance. Well we did it and it rained, forcing the kids inside.
First week of Sept. was the plan for party number two. Both days I had in mind had rain forecasted so I pushed it to the following week. My plan was the Tuesday but I didn't annouce it. Sure enough it rained. So we finally pulled it off in gorgeous weather on the Thursday. Basically, the 4 or 5 days I had it planned, which had to be a weekday, and during a certain week because my family spent most the summer up north, it rained, but on the other days that we couldn't do it, it was dry. It was extremely frustrating.
Well our 4 day summer last week was great. Held an impromptu backyard Halloween party. And attended another event on Lakeshore. Didn't think I'd be sweating so much in late October. And on the Saturday, it was a nice 8 degrees and sunny at 10 for the Milton Main St. trick or treating. But the previous week, there was another Halloween event in Dundas but the weather was total garbage so I didn't want to drive the 40-45 minutes for that. And the Thursday before Thanksgiving also rained in just the evening so that curtailed my plans for the Rockton Fair. Probably didn't rain too much but didn't want to drive 50 minutes and risk a washout.
Anyway, two of us dressed up as monsters and came out of the shed to try and eat some children. I set aside some water balloons for them to throw but learned a lesson. Should remove all other objects lying around beforehand like juice boxes, water bottles, plastic bins, etc.
Halloween night was mild last year but it rained earlier so everything was wet. This year it was about 5 but dry, which was preferable to last year.
