Those are stunning exhibits - I wish they would leave them up. Large scale artworks in the core is something we are missing.

The beauty of them is their limited time... or visit.

Rotate through something incredible every 4-6 weeks to be a continuous draw.

What it underscores for me is having a few large exhibits like this every year.

Fantastic Planets is in high demand across the world, first time 6 of them have been in the same place at the same time. EAC only has them for 6 weeks.

Folk Fest cancelled for the second year in a row. Are we gonna have a repeat of festival cancellations because of this damn virus?

i was hoping not but the truth is we probably are - a combination of quarantine requirements for travellers and the likelihood of effectively no cancellation insurance being available for the event organizers.

We are still in a global emergency. I applaud any festival for making the courageous step of cancellation despite political and social pressures to host an event that would have put hundreds, if not thousands of lives at risk. Here's to hopefully better years ahead, whenever that safely happens.

For festivals booking people from out of province/country (such as musical artists) then for sure - you wouldn't want to book them and then risk having to cancel come time for the festival.

I think more local stuff (Taste of Edmonton, Heritage Days) can likely go forward in some capacity. Maybe a smaller Fringe with a focus on local performances even?

Curious to see when the concert series'/tour world starts up again in town and who gets going first.

K days not happening this year. Good riddance. It and Northlands were dying a slow death anyways. The Stampede is going to happen and there is a reason for that. Calgary's aggressive marketing of its identity that is known worldwide.

Edmonton needs to create it's own identity.

So Calgary is going to have all the fun and Edmonton won't. This is pathetic, especially since K-days happens right after the Stampede.

Festivals such as Taste of Edmonton, Heritage Festival and The Fringe are still happening and are still massively important to Edmonton. Meanwhile, K-Days is going the way of the dodo.
