I wanted to make sure y'all got a look at my latest, specifically the photo of the tunnel under Colorado Street connecting Block 71 to O. Henry Hall -- that's the sort of detail I figured you folks would enjoy as much as me. It's not a secret or anything, but I'd never heard of it before.

UT is obsessed with tunnels. There are a bunch of creepy ones on campus as well.

Sweet. I'm thinking of visiting the garage across the street from the Driskill Hotel Annex for the view. I'm pretty sure the Aloft won't block the view here.

The first site plan was approved and released. The first one is for the above and below ground demolition of the site. The second site plan for the office tower is still in review.

Several demo permits were filed Thursday for the demo of the parking garage and plaza area. This one is definitely looking to be the next big project to break ground after the Marriott.

Can't remember where I read this, but rumor had it Block 71 was either mostly or completely under contract to Indeed. I'm wondering if that's a dead letter now that they've hoovered up the Domain Tower up north.

Or, of course, if the rumor was never true to begin with.

With the way Indeed has been growing, wouldn't be far fetched if they are taking space in block 71. I wonder if they intend to move their current offices from 5th @ Colorado to Block 71?

Packing up and moving after just moving in seems impractical. Adding additional offices in Block 71 seems more plausible.

I don't think 5 years between moves would qualify as just moving. I think it's highly unlikely they split offices in 2 different buildings instead of just consolidating into 1.

There were a few permits filed today for cutting utilities and demo. The parking garage demo is planned for 02/03 through 02/17.

The implosion is on a different permit for the 9-story office building in post #204.

Edit: I just noticed that the verbiage indicating an implosion was removed from the demo permit for the 9-story building.

Something isn't right here. First we find out the FAA won't allow anything higher than 900 feet for 600 Guadalupe and now this. What is going on here because there is no reason why we are suddenly getting height caps from the FAA... What is the reason why this particular block cant be 555', we have taller buildings already.

Hmm. The mechanical roof height on the building elevations is listed as 486 feet. They could probably narrow it down a bit and ax the mechanical screen/crown, but that would be a real bummer and downgrade to the profile of the tower.

Isn't Frost in the same line of sight as this project? If so, why would Frost be allowed to be taller? Wouldn't line of sight angle higher the further away you are from ABIA?

Agree, something's fishy.

Paging James over at Towers to investigate!
