In Vancouver, one needs to be vigilant and very concerned at all times.

Why can't they swap the shorter building with the taller one to make it a nicer transition? Also it won't be blocking Patina as much.

Watched online. 7 in favor. One opposed (Councillor Carr). Passed.

That was discussed - it would affect a lot more units (31) than the current proposal (8). It would also limit the ability to develop towers on the other two potential sites here.

City Council just approved the project, but Councillor Carr (Green) voted against. (RDW must have been posting at the same time as me!)

When one watches too many council meetings some patterns emerge. There's not too much daylight between Vision and the NPA when it comes to approving projects. As for Councillor Carr... I've already said my feelings about what I predicted she might do and why, I hate that she lived up to them.

Anyone that watches the video can see that the voices from here that spoke out made an impact, as most councilors sited the beauty of the tower in their approval. As it's the last council meeting until September, I'll end this post with words from the Mayor that should give everyone on here hope:

""With the changes downtown.. we're going to see more of this there's no question, there are people coming to our city and we need to keep building we just have to do the best possible job of it..."

Hopefully the Mayor and Council live up to those words, and this is the start of great things for Vancouver's skyline.

The classic saying "there is no dispute in taste" comes to mind. Fortunately, the majority seem to like it. Voilà

Not that the phrase "a lot of people" should translate to the word "majority, but yes, fortunately, a lot of people seem to like it.

Don't get too excited; models always look nicer than the finished product...

More of the model + Photos of Materials

As part of it's development application, this was back at Monday's UDP. I assume it passed, but we'll have to wait and see. I was excited to see the proposed materials, even if they were a pain to lift out from under the model table.
