Talking about J.W. Marriott, also Edmonton (imagine that!) is getting one as part of their stadion complex Ours will be much nicer, though and still the westernmost.
And am I'm right that this is the move-out year of Edgewater Casino?
What happened to this proposal?
That ones been dormant since it was submitted a few years ago - probably waiting for Edgewater to move out (which could be delayed depending on actual casino construction timelines).

Oh, so is the current Edgewater Casino moving into Parq Vancouver?
IIRC when the expansion plan was squashed, the casino did not adjust the actual floor space devoted to gaming. So while the number of machines and tables will remain the same, there will still be room to expand easily.
That said, Edgewater has a ton of slot machines that I've never seen close to full. Tables are busy on a Fri/Sat night though.
I realized, driving by, that One Pacific won't block the façade of the casino very much at all (entrance should be visible I think), and it will be quite prominent from the Smithe St. off ramp.

For the first time, he also shared details of the 30,000 square foot rooftop ‘parq,’ a unique feature of the entertainment destination with its flexible event and leisure space, urban forest, integrated restaurants, lounges and lifestyle characteristics. Its design will replicate the natural beauty of the region, with native trees, foliage and other celebrated West Coast features. He also revealed that:
•the JW Marriott parq Vancouver will feature a rooftop spa, offering the ultimate in spa luxury
•parq Vancouver is being constructed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification, the first hotel project of this kind in Canada with this designation.
•W Marriott parq Vancouver will feature the largest hotel ballroom in Vancouver at nearly 16,000 square feet.
Cleary also announced that James Beard nominated restaurateur, investor on CNBC’s Restaurant Startup and renowned international culinary consultant Elizabeth Blau, and her husband award-winning chef Kim Canteenwalla will oversee the development of parq Vancouver’s eight restaurants and lounges. Blau and Canteenwalla are widely credited with transforming Las Vegas’ dining scene and the food and beverage program is destined to rival the world’s best.

It would have been much cooler to have a bar on the hotel rooftop instead of a spa.
You must have missed this:

That's a different rooftop. That's the rooftop on the podium between the two towers, not the hotel rooftop which is much higher and will probably have great views of False Creek.

The PDF is barely readable, but the development permit seems to have a bar next to the pool.

If the taller tower is taken away and stacked on top the middle tower, this development would've been even more spectacular. Damn viewcones! The current design has the taller tower way too close to stadium.
