I passed by the construction site on 12/27/18 and saw that they were installing some glass on the building farthest away from the riverwalk.

I also found this on on the construction site, a physical example of how to install the facade onto the building..

Why is that metal facade stuff over the windows on the top left? To block the view from inside the building?

Given that the facade is facing southwest. I'm sure it's to shade the glazing during the summer. It also looks like it's allowing the lower angled winter sun to heat the glazing.

Couldn't they just use curtains? I'd much rather use curtains and not have my view blocked. Stupid design. Happy new year.

Jack, do you honestly believe they’re applying that to block the view from inside the building? As if there was a meeting were a bunch of business people decided they wanted to block the views for the sake of blocking the view? Come on Jack. You’re better than that.

No, I don't honestly believe that. I was using the example of how it is a bad design to exemplify the shortsightedness. Thanks for the nice compliment. Right back atcha

I used "curtains" as a general category of anything that can be used inside the building which can be changed easily depending on the user's choice. They can be put up and taken down. There can also be a wide variety of "curtains" used. In offices I've been in, I've had vertical blinds that worked really well. They gave me the option (as the person in the office) of opening them all the way to see the view, closing them for privacy or to block the sun, or to open them partially to have any option between the two extremes.

People in these office will have one option: an obstructed view.

Frost Tower is an all-glass building in hot San Antonio that will have unobstructed views. What are they using in it?

Happy new year, everyone!

Sorry, not hot San Antonio, but the hot TEXAS summer sun...
Texas is hot everywhere in the summer, for that matter it is hot all the way up to Oklahoma in the summer. Just an FYI....

Happy 2019!!!

For sure. I knew what you meant Jack, but when curtains were brought up, the 1st image I got was the old ones at my grandparents house years ago!

Does anyone know what's going on on Broadway and 10th St.? Passed by and they were demolishing the building and parking lot there.

UPDATE ( Taken on 2/28/19) A lot of progress on the tower farthest away from the riverwalk only. They're barely getting started on the frame work on the other tower.
