ATX Real Estate News has some comments about WCC and the threatened foreclosure of the 99 Trinity site.

Holding onto valuable land during the hottest stretch in Austin’s economy seems odd to me. That’s a business model I don’t understand.

Nice. The absence of other buildings likely means this was an older proposal. I like the design alright, and the height seems to be around 600 feet. The Four Seasons Residences across the street is 401 feet.

This is such a high profile parcel — one of the last jumbo, nonstandard lots left downtown as far as I can tell. I wonder if it won’t attract a similar proposal in magnitude to the supertall. Maybe not a 1000 footer but something big certainly. If we’re lucky something with more iconic design. In more certain times I’d bet that thing would for sure end up with a hotel component since it’s across the street from ACC. But these days who knows?

This lot will also sit right next to a light rail station. I hope they put something good here.

Yeah. The Austonian still has the eyebrows. Old indeed.

Good catch. I noticed them but it didn't click. That probably makes that a 15 year old proposal. I have some renderings saved of the Austonian with that ring around it from 2007.

I would have to believe that any forward thinking developer would not get stuck in the here and now. Seeing as this lot will basically be on top of a rail stop and is right across the street from a convention center that is planning on a big expansion, a rather large hotel seems like a no-brainer here.

I agree 100%, fwiw -- though my long-termism always seems to be surprised by the short-termism that developers are forever leaning towards.

TCAD shows the same entity tied to WC as the current owner.

WCC shouldn't oppose this given the price per sq foot is extremely high.

Hopefully this goes through and we get something massive given it'll be right next door to our tallest.

I'm guessing they could use the cash to pay all of those attorney's bills.

That's what his attorneys are hoping. But they know better than anyone that he is an irrational idiot and can't count on any agreement being reached.

Maybe he'll make a website and accuse 99 trinity of being a pedophile.
