Looking at the renderings of the base, it is disappointing that there doesn't appear be a high-ceiling public hospitality space for a major restaurant along the Cordova frontage or something that would create a sense of destination and animate what could potentially be a high-profile, high-energy corner, across from the city's central transportation and tourist hubs, both day and night. There is just a bike rack, a planter and some business suit working on his laptop in what appears to be a sunken office lunchroom. Surely, something far more exciting and entertaining should be planned for this important city corner.

Height to roof: 110.20m
Height to Top of Mechanical: 114.18m
Height to Top of Parapet: 114.76m (consistent with previous staff recommendation for height under 114.8m)

I guess it'll have curves like 601 West Hastings on the other corner of the block.
If the curved screens at the top of the tower are similar to other "fins" around town, they'll be disappointing
because they'll be more transparent than the glass on the floors below.

Along the lines of what Prometheus mentions, it would have been nice if the lower level corners had been cut away to reveal views of the CP Station -
but given that it's at maximum height, I guess there wasn't room to shift sq footage around.

Love that new version so much better than the previous.
Hope it gets the green light! It's imaginative, voluptuous, and would breathe life into that quarter.

So much better design! Very elegant and the solution seems to be free of any spandrel, so big thumbs up from me! It's just disappointing how all three upcoming towers in that block will be almost same height. It will bee crazy dense, but some variation would have been nice.

Depending on what the "Icepick" comes back looking like, I suppose it's a given that this tower and the tower adjacent to the CP Station will no longer "match" from a distance.

Good looking tower, going to be a supper dense block.

Of course would be nice if one of the 3 towers proposed for this block was allowed to protrude into the view cones and create a pinnacle....

But with that said it is still large enough to add a decent presence.

I second that some restaurant space at the base would be nice.

Also this is a pretty good location to add some decent lighting features to a tower... Not many residents around...

Happy to see an improved design come forward for 320 Granville, but mostly I am pleased to see forward momentum. I hope that this flies through the UDP, Council Rezoning, and DPB and as fast as possible.

I do echo the comments about a restaurant. This is a great site for a prominent restaurant, perhaps a steakhouse or something equivalently upscale enough to be a go-to place for business lunches and dinners. With all of the extra body heat that's incoming for the block, I think that there's an opportunity for additional full-service sit-down restaurants and incorporating that into the design is the only way it's going to happen.

No further rezoning necessary - that's why it has a preliminary date of April for the DP Board. The Urban Design Panel will have to like it first, presumably. It's a tight site, with quite a bit of the main floor taken up with the ramp to the parking and plant. With the corner cut away, and the atrium and elevators there's just room for a single 2,500 sq ft retail space on Cordova.

The dome on the top of the Grant Thornton tower (formerly Price Waterhouse) was supposed to light up - but I'm not sure if it was ever allowed to.
