Ok, wow.

I found the site - here's the site in Google Streetview from 2009... then just head down the hill for a shot from last year:

http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&sourc...1,,0,-2.259542

Still, this would seem to be something of the exception that proves the rule - can't help but think the location at Boundary and Kingsway had something to do with it. It clearly takes quite a bit to convert such a neighbourhood, anyway.

An update of Station Square in Burnaby.
What's left of the parkade is now closed to the public aside from the ground level. I was hoping to get a few shots from the roof again but that won't be possible anymore.Anyway I took these pics from the top of the emergency exit stairs on the western side of Metrotown.

Solo District in Burnaby is launching its second phase and what will become Burnaby's tallest tower at 55 flrs (not sure of the official height yet): Stratus.

I was looking into this last weekend, but my God! The traffic on this site is horrendous for some reason. I'm sure its just the construction but if not, I guess this is one development that you better be taking transit if you want to live here....

These are the latest renderings of the Brentwood Mall redevelopment in Burnaby. The first phase will include twin 183m residential towers and an extension of Brentwood mall towards the skytrain station.

Ottawa doesn't have any real life TODs as of today since nearly all of our BRT stations are built on Federally owned fields, but we do have some visions for TODs after the Confederation Line opens.

Ottawa has some TOD. All the apartment towers concentrated around Lees station are certainly TOD.

There are 16 high-rise and mid-rise towers designated (from the OCP) for the immediate area around Marine Drive Station. They'll probably all go up fairly quickly.

Have you even ridden the transitway? There's apartment buildings are almost every stop (okay, maybe half but still). Tunney's Pasture is more office, Lees has a bunch of buildings, Hurdman has them, South Keys/Greendboro, Billings Bridge, etc.

I rode the Transitway for a year and a half, and yes there are a few towers walking distance from the stations. But other than the Bonnavistas on Lees, I think most of them were likely built before the Transitway.

Calgary is making great strides in our TODs. Fish Creek Station finished up the first tower of it's TOD a couple years ago, Heritage Station has 2 of its 4 towers complete, Brentwood Station has the 3rd and 4th towers of University City just begining excavation within the last week, Dalhousie Station just topped out tower 2 of the Groves, with tower 3 just starting to come out of the ground. Rumour has it that we should be hearing about a major announcement at Westbrook too. Its TOD already has the tallest building outside of downtown (100 meters), so any new developments there would be amazing.

The transitway began functioning in 1983. While the few towers I was finding dates for seemed a bit older I'm fairly certain the planning stages of the Transitway were probably well under way when they werre built.

With the SELRT announcement, we should see movement on the TOD Strathearn project for the developer was not going to start it without an LRT commitment. IMO, this will be Edmonton's premier TOD development.

They are taking inspiration from Arbutus Village in Van and other Vancouver TODs.

The transitway was planned out in the 1970s. A large chunk of the apartments near it were build after it became known the Transitway was going to be there, and for that reason. So they're definitely TODs, just not in the sexy elegant sense we like to think of.

Treviso condos, first of 3 towers, is approaching completion close to Lawrence West subway station. After 37 years, transit oriented development finally seems to be taking off on Toronto's Spadina subway line. This condo is around 800 meters away from the subway line, or an 8 minute walk. Located on the busy corner of Dufferin and Lawrence.
