I have to say the white noise of the sound machine does help me sleep now.

Appointments! You need an appointment to book an appointment with a specialist, who then refers you to 5 other appointments you need to book to get your final appointment a year from now.

If you are lucky. I pound on their doors at 1pm on the weekends, and they still won't be roused.

That used to be me right into my 20's. I can't even imagine sleeping in until 9:00 since having kids. Would love to.

My toddler had the most toddler moment I've seen today. Standing in the living room fresh off the potty with his pants around his ankles, wearing a witch hat from Halloween, dancing to Du Hast by Rammstein on iTunes. I love him so!

I’m not exactly sad but we found out today there’s only one viable fertilized egg from the IVF process. They will do genetic testing which has about a 50% chance of passing then the insertion which has another 50% chance. Maybe less given the age. On top of that apparently miscarriage chances are higher than they would normally be. So not particularly likely to have a kid.

We won’t do a second round of IVF. It’s a weird feeling - I don’t really feel like I’m missing out but it’s also kinda like damn. So this is it.

I'm really sorry to hear that. You're still in the game though. My sister did IVF. Best of luck and best wishes.

Niwell, sorry to hear about your current situation. But don't lose all hope or get too discouraged.
A former supervisor of mine was told there was no way he and his wife could conceive. They adopted a toddler child with developmental issues because his wife specializes in ECE with special needs kids. I can't recall exactly but it seemed like less than 1 year later his wife got pregnant naturally, no IVF.
I'm convinced The universe works in mysterious ways.

Sometimes it seems like all the "pressure" to conceive stresses a couple completely out and makes the process worse.

Just try not to get too down on yourself. And...There's always the surrogate route as well, and plenty of babies and toddlers waiting to be adopted.

Wishing you and your wife all the best!

Thanks all. It’s not the end of the road and I’m fine with whatever happens but man is it weird.

We’re in a similar spot, though we haven’t embarked on the IVF journey so far. We just learned today that this will be the second pregnancy loss, so given our age the only way forward would be IVF. I hope it works out for you guys.

The emotional toll is a bit much and we’re leaning towards just forgoing the child project altogether. Right now there are still a few medical appointments and the ultimate surgery to look forward to, so we’ll take it one step at a time and use the holiday downtime to reflect on all this.

There is no telling if things would have worked out differently had we pulled the trigger a few years ago, but it sure feels like we just woke up one morning and that ship had sailed without warning.

We had two failed IUI attempts and we are doing IVF now. I also have that feeling that things would have been easier if we didn’t wait so long, but anyway. Just hoping that things work out in the end.

Wishing the best to both of you! It certainly seems like it would have been easier at a younger age. I also wish they were more upfront about the chances of these things once you hit a certain age - things really drop off in your late 30s. IUI seems kind of like wasted time in retrospect.
