I dont know how this is going to work. The contract is already signed but like three council members are wanting to add a list of demands to the contract.

I'm sure I can guess exactly which three.

I realize I don't know the nitty-gritty of it all, but this just seems sloppy and greedy on city council's part... I suppose they have to appease their base.

One would think that the city should be able to alter or deny placing anything on a ballot which opens the city itself to legal action.

Since the legislature is in session...is there anyone at the state level who may propose a law making it much harder or impossible for these types of petitions to continue? There is already a bill introduced to kill the mandatory paid time off ordanance.

The CC rejected the petition, so it will be on the November ballot.

Community Impact:
https://communityimpact.com/austin/n...t-in-november/

From the article:
Quote:
Adler said it threatens several community-favorite facilities, such as the Zach Theater, the Waller Creek Amphitheater, Waller Creek Boathouse and the Austin Film Society’s studios, which are all up for lease renewals soon. If approved by voters in November, each of these leases the city has for entertainment uses on public land would need to be approved through an election.

The first permit related to the stadium (as far as I can tell) was filed only today. It's a zoning change request for the 24 acres.

A couple of new renderings of Capella's Burnet Road tower. They dropped the residential, which I think we already knew. It's now 19 stories of office and parking. They're calling it Arena Tower.

Meh. Not bad, but not what it coulda been. What's clear is that the rest of that side of Burnet probably isn't too far away from being similarly developed.

The site plan was finally submitted on Friday. It sure seems like they will be cutting it close on having this ready for the 2021 season.

Safe to say the Domain and NBG won't be known for their architecture...

We can only hope Brandywine steps it up a notch - whenever they get around to building something that is.

Hopefully City Staff give this priority in the queue and permits can get squared away by the summer.

The rezone application is asking for a max height of 130 feet. Nothing else too interesting about it:

https://abc.austintexas.gov/attachme...eYt3ZIjw%3D%3D

Can city council approve this on all 3 readings in 1 meeting or do they have to separate it? They'll hopefully have 2 extra votes this time so I think that gives them enough to approve on all 3 readings at a single meeting but I could be wrong. I would guess this gets to council sometime in late April/May.

Looks like the stadium grew to 22,000 seats from 20,000

I believe if there is nothing contentious it could be passed on consent.

AND, if it's true that it has expanded to 22,000 - Thank God! I was hoping 22,500 - 25,000.

I'm sure a CM will at least pull for discussion and I'm sure it'll have the same civic trolls who want to speak on it.

Few New Tidbits

-Seating Capacity will be 20,500 but can be expanded later
-Cost up to 240 million
-Team president Andy Loughnane told the American-Statesman Monday evening that one of the items that has driven that price point is a roof expansion that would make the stadium’s cover the second-largest among current soccer specific venues behind Red Bull Arena, home of the New York Red Bulls. He said the canopy will be more than twice the size of the roof at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston and five times larger than Toyota Stadium in Dallas.
-New Renderings coming

To give an idea of the roof of Red Bull Arena. This will change the design for sure. Can't wait for the new renderings.
