I usually drive by there every morning to check up on things. I was expecting some activity thanks to that nice heads up ConstruktPhx gave us.

You’re right, that white section isn’t for the tower crane. It was for a smaller crane used to assemble it. The top section of the tower crane is white but the rest of it matches the base – gray and square. Here, this is a grainy pic but it shows it better than I can describe:

Is it just me, or is the top portion of the Sheraton crane leaning away from the building? Almost as it is trying to deny all association with that ugly piece of shit.

This tower has the best possible position within the Phoenix skyline, I can't really think of a better spot it could have been built. It fills in (or at least begins to) the gap between Chase and the Sheraton so nicely!

How this tower will influence the skyline...

Cool, that looks neat. I may be mistaken, but from that angle that AZ Kid did his rendering in, I believe the Jet (if it happens) will fill that gap between the Sheraton and OCPE, right?

So what is CPE's height in comparison to 44 Monroe again? That should give us a good indication on how tall the building will be.

More salt on the Sheraton

I heard a nasty rumor about the Sheraton, supposable it is not truly 360’ in height. I was told that it is actually closer to 300’ and the original height was overstated but never corrected. When I heard this I went back and looked at a couple of pictures and made a point of taking note of views while driving past downtown this past weekend and I must say it does indeed look much shorter than the BofA building. I don’t know how valid the info was considering it came from someone associated with the Wyndham and I’m sure on how to check the actual stats for the building but it does seem very plausible.

^ I don't think this info is correct. Just from the Tower of Mordor's apparent height in relation to the other towers, it seems shorter than 101 North Central (U.S. Bank; 407 feet), about the same height as Collier Center/Bank of America (360 feet) and 44 Monroe (378 feet), and taller than Arizona Center's towers (260 to 270 feet).

When will this baby hit street level? Maybe 2nd-3rd week of January?

The crane was still working away at 5:30 last night, at dusk. They sure aren't messing around now that they've got the crane.

Yea this thing is really moving fast, I like it. And being that it will be a steel frame, it should go up that much quicker!
