His "institute" was suppose to spearhead the fundraising efforts for the estimated (I think I might be wrong on this) but $4 billion needed for the project. It was suppose to come from a number of sources including grants from the future endowment from his Trump University/ Money Laundering like scheme he's cooking up with ASU.

Scheming with ASU nearly seven years after one’s own death is an amazing feat. Not bad for an “old bag.”

Totally. Love McCain and love how he continues to rile up the partisans on both sides of the aisle. I'm super excited to see this river anchor our identity and connect our cities.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Wasn't there some low intensity mixed use site proposed for the south side of the river with some Mexican food company that went absolutely nowhere past its first announcement?

This one? Did something fall through between February and now?

Thanks for posting, I had not remembered this one. It does seem to be for the same parcel(s), and it sounds like the City has been working with them for years, through several rounds of various grants, planning, etc. so I'd be surprised if more or less that was not still the plan.

"loving" soulless politicians is real cringe. They are tools to be used and snakes to be wrangled but the last thing they deserve is your "Love"

"Cringe." LOL

Wasn't trying to trigger you. You'll recover, Boomer.

Honestly, I appreciate what he did, and I appreciate this project. I go down to the river on a fairly regular basis, and participate in some of the activities that go on down there (like the clean-ups and bird walks). This kind of cross-valley project is so needed for an identity. Arguing about stadium subsidies is pretty niche and gets old fast.

I don't oppose the project either...just wish it wasn't tied to some blood-thirsty war fanatic neo-con...

As for the Kierland project it's going to replace that two story retail building just west of intersection...

A) It's a shame because I feel like unlike LA we don't have many of these two story retail strip malls left and
B) How do they expect to get it approved with that neighborhood right behind them...but then again the project on the hard corner was planned to be taller and the City approve it....

They'll usually stairstep the height, but I haven't read the PUD yet. The offices to the south likely have a setback for a similar reason, and there's specific instances of stairstepping elsewhere in Phoenix zoning like in the Camelback East Core Specific Plan.

Could you share the PUD when you see it? Thanks!

As an infill development, a key design concept for the building is focused on its sensitivity and consideration of adjacent residential land uses. The building utilizes a stepped down design, gradually decreasing the building’s height from its tallest elevation of approximately 79’ along the east frontage nearest 71st Street to its shortest elevation of 45’ at the west property line, where the property is nearest the R1-8 zoned residential subdivision located approximately 150’ away. This stepped down design results in a building massing that is contextually appropriate with previous entitled projects (Case No, Z12-21 located at the southwest corner of Scottsdale Road and Bell Road, approved for a height of 141’) while also providing a transition in height to the single-story homes ensuring the Development’s compatibility with its surrounding neighbors.

Thanks, that's a brilliant looking redevelopment. Had no idea the storage serves as a buffer with that neighborhood.

If only that 14 story project right on the corner went up. Would be a nice corner...
