That is tacky but looks slightly better than the Edmonton "Brewery district".

A horror show of strange McMansions I drove by earlier today:

https://www.google.com/maps/@51.0267...7i13312!8i6656

A new stretched out snouthouse design I have never seen before:

https://www.google.com/maps/@51.0269...7i13312!8i6656

It looks like this reno was inspired by Montana's restaurants:

https://www.google.com/maps/@51.0262...7i13312!8i6656

Why even bother with this fake window?

https://www.google.com/maps/@51.0240...7i13312!8i6656

An assortment of ill proportioned houses:

https://www.google.com/maps/@51.0225...7i13312!8i6656

This one is so weird:

https://www.google.com/maps/@51.0221...7i13312!8i6656

https://www.google.com/maps/@51.0224...7i13312!8i6656

Straight out of Paris:

https://www.google.com/maps/@51.0219...7i13312!8i6656

Cyclops:

https://www.google.com/maps/@51.0217...7i13312!8i6656

Massively overbuilt for the lot and it has a strange interface with the street:

Ack, those houses are abysmal. And I thought Ontario had shitty McMansions! Those, the Pump Hill Pink House, and the Castles are probably some of the worst McMansions in Alberta.

It's actually the biggest concentration of weird and ugly McMansions I've seen in the city. I can't believe I've never driven that street before. Every other house was an abomination.

I look at this and I'm thinking, "wh— why take photos???"

This was, literally, the House of the Day on thunderbayhouses.com on March 6 2019.

Quote:
Newly built and fully finished with top-quality materials and keen attention to detail, this stunning luxury home showcases a sleek modern style — featuring engineered hardwood flooring throughout, a high-gloss white kitchen with quartz counters, and special lighted features — plus boasts a fantastic location, on a quiet cul de sac in Tuscany Estates, next to mature forest!

A vaulted ceiling soars in the open-concept living room, formal dining room and eat-in kitchen, with a centre garden door that leads to the back deck. The kitchen shows off high-gloss white cabinets, quartz counters, a ceramic-tile back splash, eat-up island and stainless-steel built-in appliances.

Two bedrooms are on the main floor, along with three additional bedrooms in the basement. The home has three bathrooms, including a three-piece ensuite off the master bedroom, which also has a vaulted ceiling and walk-in closet.

Special lighted features are a nice touch on the stairway railing and around the mirrors and cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms.

The home is also outfitted with central air conditioning.

This new luxury home comes complete with a Tarion warranty. The list price includes HST. The yard will soon be finished with a double gravel driveway and sod.

Call or text today to inquire further or to set up a personal viewing!

Yeah, as someone who is half Dutch I agree it looks like an Amsterdam knockoff. Manchester Sqaure is one of the weirder names I have seen lately. I have the same problem with The Montana in Calgary.

That house is listed at 425k? I am not familiar with real estate prices in Thunder Bay but it looks overpriced.

I'm going to be the contrarian here and say that I don't think the Thunder Bay house is bad at all. In fact, I'd say it's quite nice. It could have been improved by using a flat roof which would have been more in keeping with its modern minimalist aesthetic, but it's still nice. The details look better than the average builder-grade junk we see in new Winnipeg houses, and from what I can see out the windows, the setting looks nice. The only real gripe I have is that the kitchen looks small for a house of that size and price.

I find the blank wall around the too plain front entrance unpleasant (from the photo), but it seems pretty standard otherwise.

And the fact the front is stone, the extension looks like straight drywall, and the side appears to be aluminum siding...

Beyond the fact that it looks like a prison with the tiny windowed bedrooms, I can't get over how terrible the photography is. Complete amateur hour. I like how the house is half obscured by shoveled snow and that there is a bare wire beside the doorway with no light. The interior shots have no lighting and look dim and blown out.

The bathroom appears to have a high end floating vanity but then a cheap toilet. The rest of the house is a weirdly laid out mess with no attention to detail. I'm guessing it was built as a hodge podge of 'luxury' parts by a know it all trades person with no understanding of modern design or architecture.

I love descriptions of landscaping in the ThunderBay home adverts you post. How is sod and a 2 lane gravel driveway 'luxury' landscaping?

Don't be downplaying the double-wide. It's a key selling point and probably adds $10000 to the asking price.
