I'll never get over this chop job. But you're right, watching those other towers rise taller than TV with smaller floor plates in some cases and in almost identical vicinities makes the argument used back then completely idiotic, especially when it relates to the crown vis a vis the ESB, which was utterly outrageous.
But the masterpiece is being built and we got more than enough interesting projects going around the city to make up for it, not only in terms of height but in terms of great architecture, Steinway, the Pyramid, the WTC station, 56 Leonard.... So much I lose count. Great time to be in the city for sure.
