Opposition is easier to explain than pained resignation.

Regardless of the details, it is always hilarious to see a whiny little alderbeast get out-clouted by a larger fish in the aquarium like Loyola/Newcastle. This was one of the few situations in which aldermanic prerogative breaks down and a clouted institution and developer team up to ram something down the alderman's throat.

Also, someone said something about him not bitching if it were Northwestern, well he did complain about Children's Hospital if I recall correctly (though they are not technically NW). I assume NW has greased him up sufficiently since then so they could force through the Prentice charade.

Sterling Bay has a whole host of new renderings on their website for many developments in the fulton market area. Love this company.

I'm not sure if any of these have been posted before but I'm guessing at least a few of them are new.

The Highlights:

1100 W Grand:

1245 W Fulton Market

1055 W Fulton Market

311 N Morgan

There are some other good looking smaller retail projects as well.

^^ I like all of these proposals, except for the one on Grand. It looks like something straight out of the suburbs. I mean the building itself looks fine, but the grass and the roadway looks suburban to me. Maybe I am missing something?

Pretty sure that grass and roadway are the feeder ramp to the highway 90/94.

Thank god - there are a number of lots just west of the River on Grand that are in desperate need for development and demand is definitely there (including the massive boarded up warehouse on the corner of Milwaukee, Halsted, Grand).

Great looking developments, and for the most part fit in well with the Fulton Market aesthetic. Its good to see companies realize that this area could easily morph into the current day Meatpacking District of Manhattan.

I'm more pissed about the ground level, which went from a beautiful, generous, and tall arcade to a typical West Loop retail storefront.

The 1K reno was my favorite project happening right now, they made it look so....average. Ok, it still looks alright... but this is a let down. I'm assuming this re-design is due to the construction issues they had?

Man this has killed my buzz.

The Puma Store in Block 37 is closing. This property has been so mismanaged that it's ridiculous. What an embarrassment..

I don't think mismanagement is the reason for Puma's closing, though. The company is scaling back globally with plans to close 90 under-performing stores.

Puma's space is a large two-level space with direct frontage on State, so it shouldn't be too difficult to re-lease.

Meanwhile, CIM is still shopping around their mixed-use tower plan.

If you're saying B37 as a whole is a giant disaster, then yes. I agree. IMO, not only is it an embarrassment, but it's ugly a shit too.

Out of curiosity, what's the vacancy percentage of B37?
