I volunteered for the Obama campaign in Virginia today and one of the passengers in our car to Richmond is a law student from the San Fernando Valley. I told him about Measure J and he texted his mom and aunt to vote yes for Measure J.

its trending up, but its gonna be really close. i think this is very similar to Measure R if im not mistaken. i went to bed late thinking it wasnt passing and woke up to a nice surprise. Hopefully the same today.

also, helicopters carrying ballots are being diverted due to heavy fog so results will be delayed all night.

202 cyclist... great job!

I predicted that it would fall short by the narrowest of margins. Looks like that will be the case.

64.63 yes with 55% of precincts reporting.

Not looking promising, but there is still a chance.

Today Los Angeles county overwhelmingly voted to force condom use in pornography, but we can't get 2/3 in favor of transit. Way to have your priorities straight, LA county.

Why oh why is there a 2/3rds majority required? For a referendum, just like in a parliament, that's a crushing majority. How does anything get done that way?

Its the dumbest law Californians have ever passed. 65% is a landslide victory by any reasonable measure. What is a politician to think the day after? "Lets not pursue this any further even though a crushing majority thinks its a good idea?" No...thats simply not logical.
