Are there any other buildings with a similar range of prices?
Even though it is to be expected, these are indeed steep prices. Perhaps the developers assumed that there would always be other
ultra-rich overseas investors slathering for the location, prestige, elegance, etc etc etc.
Something seems to be happening with the Chinese, and other, economies, and even very rich people might be tending to think twice about where to live, how much$$$$ to pay.
The Georgia, with all that's going for it, is not a child-oriented environment, once outside the home, if you consider the angles and aspects, and needs of children.
Could that be part of it?
These people may have children, and seek a more community-oriented, receation-amenity-richer, pedestrian-safe environment, as in many large Burnaby and Coquitlam developments.
Not everybody's out to live on "Park Avenue."

They should just cut their losses at this point and do what Shangrila did and make 2 or 3 more sensible suìtes from each of the unsold units. From the looks of the photos on the realtor website, the finishes are quite dated even for 2010 standards, it was designed close to a decade ago now. They need to freshen up their product, they could still make the same profit if they subdivided and had up to date interior fittings.

A side note, I think this is one of the better looking buildings built in the past decade and really stands out from other projects.

Thank you for that. I just google mapped over downtown and central Vancouver, inc the CBD, north of it, south of it, east, west, and the Arena district.
Couldn't find a place that either wasn't developed, developing, or apparently spoken for.
The crystal design is daring, and cannot be plonked just anywhere. It could even house a new QE Theatre, and Opera. Stuff like that would fit, although it's all very, mm, ......... .........
Roppongi?; Milan?; Chicago?; Upper East Side? .... I mean with a design like that you go "all the way" in nearly every aspect, and market location is (of course) a/the principal element.

Boy, you weren't kidding about the interior fittings! The top one looks 1970s and the bottom one anywhere from 1970 back to 1960 almost!!

If I could afford it I'd live there, even with those furnishings

Im sure you could get a price reduction at this point if you complained enough about the decor. the common areas feel dated too.

however I love the tower from the outside. its beautiful.

Agree with the dated interior finishes; they really should update the finishes and could possibly ask even higher prices.

The 2000-2200 sqft units at Trump sold at over $3000/sq ft. I think there's still a 2200 sq ft unit on the 67th floor for 6.5m

Apparently there was a major water damage in the tower a month ago.

A million $ in damage? Oh man. That can't help sales because it really points to security vulnerabilities and when someone is paying millions for a condo.....

Why the hell would somebody do that though?

Was it never not working?

Still irks me a bit that the "raindrop" lighting feature never materialized. I don't know how buildings like this one and The Melville get away with cutting such prominent features out.

It would look great if there would be a LED stripe along that gray edge. Something similar to Shaw Tower.

I think that was the original idea, and the light would drip down like a rain drop.

Yeah, but that would mean light and colors. Both things we hate here in Vancouver. And Fun! Add fun to that list as well.

Oh fuck the raindrops. That would be just tacky. The Robson square view is the only good view of this building. In every other view, it looks like a box trying its hardest not to be a box, using only one feature corner.

The lighting was broken/turned off for at least four months, as is the case with so many buildings downtown: HSBC Building, Marine Building, Hotel Vancouver, the Pallisades (Robson and Bute), the list goes on.

This is one of the most underrated developments in DT. Or maybe under mentioned.

Its a brilliant tower.
