Right? I only knew of him from the more recent news regarding his "slumlord" status, but learning more about his past, it's sad to see how much good he's done and how his legacy was marred later in his life by some of his holdings.

News about what's going on with his properties. Waited a couple of days to post this because I don't want to be dancing on the guy's grave or anything. From an article from Wednesday the 26th:
Joe Jaeger was a major New Orleans real estate investor. Here's what's next for his empire.

"Jaeger still owned the Plaza Tower, which he had bought in 2014 after many earlier failed attempts to revive the 45-story skyscraper. He hoped for a deal to turn it into a Universal Music hotel, but when that deal fell through, he put it up for sale last year.

Wormser said a potential buyer from Florida failed to find the money and dropped out last week, just before the accident that led to Jaeger's death. He said other buyers have shown interest and he hopes a deal can be wrapped up before the end of the summer."

quick trip out last night before I take a break, ive been downtown for essence every year for the last 20 years, because of people damaging things in the casino years round and not having their info, the policy is now that every person who enters the casino must show ID, no matter how old you are or look, which is a swipe, scan both side, check under black light ect. I have no problems with that, its actually great but knowing how many try to enter during large events, I really dont want that headache, for any event. I guess it will be a bit better once they get the convention center entrance open and the new hotel entrance

small update, I really, really hope after they repair, they blacktop over what they are doing to Poydras, the new work is wavy and bumpy and now they are just filling gaps with blacktop till they get to the other sections but the new stuff is not good

the Convention Center/Poydras entrance is still not open but o so close. they were installing the signage yesterday. phone didnt want to open so not a great pic but something
