The Ace Hotel, which only a few years ago was among the trendiest spots in New Orleans, has officially been rebranded as a Hyatt property and the hotel, restaurant and coffee shop in the Central Business District now have new names.
The Carondelet Street hotel reopened Tuesday as The Barnett by Hyatt. Josephine Estelle, the popular Italian restaurant inside the hotel, and Lovage coffee house have also shuttered and have new names: Trattoria Barnett and the Cafe at the Barnett, respectively.
Closed for years, a $9.7M facelift is coming to the shuttered Algiers ferry terminal
The Algiers ferry terminal has been closed for more than five years, but it's now slated for a long-awaited face-lift.
The New Orleans Regional Transit Authority, along with local design firm Studio West, have revealed preliminary plans for a $9.7 million terminal renovation to improve transit access and transform the site into a hub for community events and commercial opportunities.
The Federal Transit Administration will supply about 80% of the funding with RTA covering the remainder.
The renovated ferry terminal is expected to reopen in late 2025.
I don't recall seeing these renderings for the N. Rampart project - not sure if these are legit, but from the same firm that is handling the Algiers Ferry renovation.

Woah. Not to be insensitive, but I wonder how this affects Plaza Tower redevelopment. I assume someone will execute his estate and could make the decision on selling it, but can we hope for a property auction that just gets it moving?
Happy belated Nolaslimm. Condolences to the Jaeger family; but wonder if the city can now seize control of the Plaza now.
Thanks, and they could have taken it any time, now we'll see if the city goes on with fining the estate, doubtful. im sure they will now make an excuse though that they have to wait on succession and cant do anything until then

It's wild how Jaeger's reputation in the city seemed to peak and trough so thoroughly starting around the time the Jung opened. The suddenness is sad and reminder how fragile this all is.
