More details emerge on New Orleans' $40 million facelift ahead of Super Bowl LIX

https://www.nola.com/news/business/n...iness-featured

The first 10 floors of the derelict Plaza Tower will be wrapped with welcome signs. A giant mural will cover a portion of the city-owned parking garage across the street from City Hall, along with smaller ones on buildings scattered throughout downtown. Water line replacement and other utility work around the Hard Rock hotel collapse is now getting underway.

These are just a few of the infrastructure and beautification projects that are part of a $40 million package city officials are planning ahead of Super Bowl LIX in February. They include city wide graffiti abatement, interstate lighting, downtown road resurfacing and individual curb cuts and lamppost replacements. There are more than 400 projects in all....

Yeah .. I can’t see it. The NFL and NBA or more than enough for the city to handle.

Which means they would have to build a new arena in addition to a new or renovated arena for the Pelicans.

I’ve been thinking about this since Nic and the governor made the comment about this NHL team and them playing in a world class arena that it must have something to do with the lease negotiations between state and Saints/Pels and the new arena. Maybe pushing for new arena at convention center site?

Commercial Construction Firm Building $25M Headquarters in Jefferson Parish

https://bizneworleans.com/commercial...ferson-parish/

JEFFERSON PARISH, La. – Commercial construction firm RNGD said it is investing approximately $25 million to consolidate its regional manufacturing operations, training center and corporate headquarters on a site in Jefferson Parish.

RNGD plans to purchase a property next to its existing manufacturing and fabrication facility on Earhart Expressway. It will use the additional space to create a new corporate headquarters and training complex. The company didn’t announce its plans for its current home base at 1730 Tchoupitoulas Street.

Based in New Orleans, and with offices in Nashville and Huntsville, Ala., RNGD operates in the industrial, heavy civil and commercial construction markets. Its subsidiaries include a multi-state building construction enterprise, a heavy civil and infrastructure construction enterprise, and a provider of manufactured building components.

Company founder and CEO Wesley J. Palmisano said in a statement that the new consolidated campus will support “cross-functional collaboration between our construction teams, training programs, and manufacturing facility.” He said the development will accelerate RNGD’s mission to “move the construction industry forward while also expanding our commitment to the city and region.”

The new 8-acre campus will include a 30,000-square-foot office building, a 25,000-square-foot training center, an expanded 80,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, and parking for 200 vehicles. A 1-acre site nearby will function as a construction laydown yard for storing heavy equipment and other supplies. The training facility, which will house the Renegade Academy (RNGD’s professional development program), will offer educational programming.

The development is projected to break ground July 1 and be completed by January 2025.

I dont know what level the river is currently but high river levels will delay and halt work here if you are within a certain distance of the river. Harrahs was forced to stop work on the hotel for a few weeks when the river got too high

had no reason to head downtown other than I had nothing else to do but it worked out nicely with a royal flush.

Zavier just keeps on chugging along

lanes moved to the other side in some spots on Poydras, I drove across one of the patches near the dome and for a long Cadillac car that you dont feel much on the road, you could feel the dip in the fresh concrete. im hoping they scrape and put a fresh layer of asphalt on the whole road

some curb work

Canal smoking section has machines, I got in the casino but the entrance to the smoking section was blocked off with chairs and rope and a person standing guard. Its ready to go, just a matter of when will they open it.

Poydras/Convention Center entrance looks like all they have left is a few bricks to place in the ground and that should open also. a bit behind but so so close
