I would have thought that even at those prices, in such a prestige building and location, more units would have been snapped up by now.
Would the recent change in immigration law have anything to do with this?
Or is it simply overpriced at any rate?

The change on the immigration law is having almost a zero effect, especially on Condo sales. Trump is a prime example of that. The actual intake of the program has been very minimal in the last couple years and there are still other program that immigrants can use to come here and/or get their money into the country and invested.

The Georgia took in excess of 6 years to build, construction costs soared in that time. The units are very expensive and lost a lot of the buzz along the way. I imagine the inventory will be held on to for some time to come.

Something that Holborn changed with its tower after the initial failure and move from Ritz to Trump.

Talked to someone involved with sales and they have dropped prices slightly and are selling 3 or 4 units a month...

Still ~35 units unsold....

I love how the Howe Street urban canyon is shaping up to be.

Yes, that "canyon" effect is largely what (in North America, anyway) gives a city that "big city" feeling.
Howe Street will be even more dramatic when the Exchange is finished. (just too bad it could not have been a few storeys taller)

That Howe street bock on the right side of your pic is ripe for redevelopment.

The ownership is... interesting to say the least.

Eventually it will be developed but not for a while it seems.

Here's a good view showing the "new" Georgia along with the "old" Hotel Vancouver to the left. Too bad those people had to be standing in my way, think they were filming some silly movie which few will ever see.

Care to elaborate? I'm not aware of the ownership situation.

Although perhaps not the right thread, but Yes, the Howe Street canyon
is really truckin'. (still with 'The Exchange just beginning)
When the Exchange is finished, IMO, it will add its presence, reinforcing the canyon effect, of which in this instance, The Georgia is the anchor.
there's a smart building facing the Exchange site, (the one with the Cartier signs, and arched windows). This street could take on a Toronto-ish, or small scale Manhattan feeling ... if development continues in a future building cycle

Dunno how much shelf life those small, 70s, buildings have. ....
