It's copper. I'd highly doubt if they paint over that. Hopefully not

Because that would be a major expense and undertaking for the city to take on, and I doubt they have confidence they'd ever recoup it from Jager. Plus, it would mean the loss of a major building that the city would much rather be put back into use because the alternative is an empty lot for who knows how long until someone eventually proposes something inevitably way smaller.

Man that’s Disney level quality right there. Yeah please ask him about the roof - as it’s pretty much the last remaining relic of the old Harrah’s. Also I can’t remember but did they include a ballroom ?

the original hotel on the 2nd and I think 3rd floors, they have ballrooms as they call them, the 2nd floor of the casino will include around 8600sqft of ballroom/convention space

Six Flags Update: https://www.nola.com/news/see-inside...e=featured-top

"It is of the most complicated development projects in recent New Orleans history, and so far, brush clearing and animal wrangling have been the primary on-site activities. Access roads that had been buried in thickets are now passable. Henry has also hired an old Stanford University college buddy, Vincent Williams, who visited the site with him last month, to serve as project manager.

Demolition should be getting underway by late summer, and an announcement of major tenants and operators will come around the same time. Those commitments will set the table for financing packages, he said."

Patiently waiting for those tenant announcements. Happy to finally get an update about this though.

I’m excited to hear the tenant announcement. Would anyone like to share a wish list of major tenants and operators? Here’s my wish list. Disclaimer: I know these are “pie in the sky”, but it’s fun to dream.

Bass Pro Shop
Buc-ee’s
IKEA
Residence Inn
Target
Whole Foods

For the life of me, I don't understand why there's not a Bass Pro Shop in the NOLA area. A Buc-ee's would be great over there too. I always stop at the one in the Auburn area whenever I'm on the road from Atlanta to New Orleans. The chocolate chip cookies ...

I'm pretty sure they're still building it, especially in that area where you have new housing and hospitals where people can pop in and grab something. Trader Joe's is notorious for being extremely tight-lipped about their plans.

On this downtown New Orleans corner, a second high-rise is now falling into disrepair

"Two Lafayette businessmen bought the former Archdiocese of New Orleans office building on Howard Avenue in 2022 with plans to convert the mid-century midrise to a hotel or short-term rental complex.

But 18 months later, those plans have stalled and the city has slapped the new owners with nearly a dozen code violations for allowing the 12-story building to deteriorate.

...some members of the local real estate industry aren’t surprised the project ran into trouble, given the high costs of borrowing money and converting old buildings into new uses.

“We’re kind of in that mode where it is not feasible to develop or redevelop much, even if you can get tax credits,” said Bush Benton, a local commercial real-estate appraiser with Stegall, Benton, Melancon and Associates. “It is a challenge with high interest rates and construction costs.” "

Unfortunate, but given the state of the industry right now, not surprising. I think it will be a few years before we see anything get built that doesn't have a significant amount of public subsidy. And this is more of a national issue, not just a NOLA issue.

yea the closest BPS is in Baton Rouge and Cabellas just south of BR...they are opening a Buc-ees in Gulf Port soon, thats the closest, but we definitely need one closer, surprised they havent tried for one in Kenner or LaPlace already

for the Casino folks, Treasure chest Casino in Kenner opens up Thursday

and for lets see what happens, the evergreen hotel behind Lafreniere park at he Veterans/I10 split has been purchased and will be renovated. place has been a dump and crime haven forever, i have doubts but we'll see. also the same owners renovating the Crystal hotel on Tulane

Yeah I agree .. it’s hard to get any redevelopment project going these days because of the increasing cost of goods and materials.Man poor Howard Ave just can’t catch a break. Seems half of that area of the city is derelict.

The city, state, and NFL had a press conference about Super Bowl infrastructure preparation. I am attaching the presentation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcAepe24E1I

Around the 28-minute mark, they show before-and-after renderings of example projects—Poydras St, I-10 lights, the street through LSU Med's downtown campus, a homeless camp, and park beautification (they're converting the underpass at Earhart Blvd and S Claiborne Ave into a park!).

Also of interesting note: right before Michael Hecht (who coordinates and oversees all of this city preparation work) talked about the park at Earhart and Claiborne, he said, "Parks—we could have shown a beautiful park here or show what's happening to Duncan Plaza..." -----He states that both Duncan Plaza and Lafayette Square will receive improvements.

If anyone can/wants to, and can share the images from the article, that would be helpful. Thanks!

I really hope this Super Bowl spurs economic opportunity for the city ( more Fortune 500 companies relocating, even more investments in infrastructure,’ continued investments in the cities economic sectors etc.)Hopefully this benefits the state as a whole ( because it desperately needs it).

Passed by the old Nike store on Tulane today and noticed signs up. Looks like it's going to be a senior primary care center. I attached a couple of pictures didn't want to get too close because there was a police officer there but looks like they're building a lot of interior walls as you might expect. Also added a picture showing their geographical reach. I think they've been in Louisiana for a while but they're just adding some more locations in the New Orleans area.

Edit: looks like pictures aren't showing up. It's been a while since I posted any so not sure what I did wrong
