That definitely isn't the case for hockey. Edmonton's AHL team is in OKC, San Jose's is in Worcester, MA, and LA's is in Manchester, NH just to name a few long-distance affiliations.
Hockey will naturally be more distant as hockey had to expand further distances to places in the south and the west. Not to mention the percentage of canadians to americans within the leagues.

Our team has been an affiliate for a few teams over the years. It's bounced around between the Angels, Cubs, Twins and yes the Cardinals.

They finally built a good floodwall/berm several years ago so now flooding isn't a problem. This stadium was seen over and over on national and world news during the 1965 and 1993 floods as it filled with river water.
I still call it John O' Donnell Stadium instead of it's new corporate name.

This works for me. Too bad that what she actually said is way fucking worse than what she said in the song. But then again, art is never nearly as harsh as reality is it? She is definitely not one who respects those who served. Nor is she one who can keep a promise or oblige a commitment.

Forgot about those two.

Why hasn't this been closed yet and the idiots who keep contributing to it banned or suspended?

Petco Park has some nice views. Too bad it's usually 1/4 filled.

Man the CFL is tight this year. 75% of the teams in the west (3/4) are tied for the division lead, at 8-6.

My boss's boss invited me to lunch, but there is only one problem. I no longer live in the metro area or state where my job is located and I haven't been in the city where my job is located in more than a year

That view in Detroit is killer big city. I've never been in the stadium.

I wonder how that's gonna go.

That sounds like a hilarious premise, but will be horribly executed.

Speaking of hilarious premises with horrible executions, I've created a new blog because according to my therapist, I need a creative outlet...that doesn't involve bitching about how much I'm an asshole on a blog: http://judgingbookcovers.tumblr.com/

... like the three or four other websites I've seen with this premise, I'm just another jackass who thinks he can provide witty commentary on the bizarre book covers I've encountered in my line of work.

Looks like you're getting off to a great start

I was more overcome by how weak and puny he looks.

Also, the cactus appears to be growing through the station wagon.

At least I'll have something productive to do at work tomorrow.

A while back, I saw a very bizarre competition, that I think involved snorting milk in one nostril, and pushing it out the other into a bucket. It seemed to be a big deal (I think in Russia). I've been looking for it for about 30 minutes now, and all I'm finding is cocaine and strange porn. This 'sport' had a specific name. Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? I wanted to show it to a friend.

I'll ask in the check this out thread too, they seem to find weird things all the time.

Edit: bnk found it.
